Tuesday…

It’s a beautiful day here in South Devon and so I have just taken the camera for a walk around the garden.

Suddenly, everything is waking up and starting to give the garden a different persona.…my goodness do we need it! I love late March when all in the garden is new and fresh…and so cheerful! It’s like a bunch of old friends popping up to say, ‘hello’.

I love all the yellows in the garden, right now,

And I love how the plants just get on with doing their ‘thing’!

For instance, this Erysimum has recently burst into life. A good garden plant..so reliable and it flowers constantly. This one is Erysimum tricolour. I planted it last year, in my raised bed and I love it..and it seems to love where it is and so although I’m mainly planting herbs here, this spring, I think I’ll leave well alone!

I’ve also used the raised bed to over-winter a ton of Foxgloves, which will shortly be moved to the borders as well as Nich’s garden as I’ve offered him some to fill a few gaps.

I have primroses popping up in the most odd places…and I think they are one of my favourites at the moment.

As are the Hellebores…..I only have about four plants in this garden; I planted them when we moved here.

I’ve had to start all over again with Hellebores. In my previous garden, I’d grown and nurtured many varieties. One year I did this…picked some of the blooms and left them as a display in a shallow bowl of water on the kitchen table…lovely, aren’t they?

I was very proud of my Hellebore plants! They took two or three years to really become established but in the end they were stunning!

Meanwhile, on Saturday I started to sow seeds…I always find this so therapeutic!

Fingers crossed that they all germinate…especially the Sweet Peas, as I’ll be in big trouble if they don’t!

Have a happy day! 😀

  1. I have recently dug up my hellebores and split them, which is a brilliant way to increase plants.

Your hellebore bowl was a lovely way to display the blooms.
