“It is a wonderful place, the moor,” said he, looking round over the undulating downs, long green rollers, with crests of jagged granite foaming up into fantastic surges. “You never tire of the moor. You cannot think the wonderful secrets which it contains. It is so vast, and so barren, and so mysterious.”
These words, above, so very apt, are spoken by Jack Stapleton, a character in ‘The Hound of the Baskervilles’ written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
And that is where we ventured today; it was a very warm and glorious day on Dartmoor.
Heading towards Tavistock (and beyond), we made a quick pit stop at The Two Bridges Hotel, for a drink.
The West Dart River runs through here…
And then on we journeyed. This view, below, is looking towards Tavi and in the distance, Cornwall.
Of course, I didn’t buy anything! 😂🤣😂
Just outside Tavi, at Milton Abbot, is Endsleigh Gardens Nursery; it’s a nursery that I’ve always loved, simply because it is just that! A proper, old fashioned nursery. And I love the setting.
We retraced our steps to Tavistock, where we stopped for a quick bite to eat before wending our weary way homeward, a fine time being had by all!
Lovely scenes from Dartmoor, it's many years since i visited that area!
