Hay On Wye!

Last week, Mr S and I decided to have a short break, away from home!

On Thursday, we made Hay whilst the sun shone!!!

Hay on Wye, to be exact!

It's a lovely little town, with so much to take in...

You get bookshops galore!

And funny, little, quirky junk/antique shops...

Shops with strange names...

Galleries...

Tea rooms...

And of course...vintage...

If you haven't heard of Louise Loves then you have now!!

She runs 'Vintage Mercantile' in Hay on Wye.

Here's her website:

http://www.louiseloves.co.uk/

And her blog:

I was so pleased that I finally got to meet the lovely Louise and all of her vintage goodies , including her scrummy fabric!

But you know, Hay was only really a 'pit stop' on Thursday... as we had to move on to our little bit of heaven...our secret little hideaway in Shropshire!

And so this is not really ...

We had a date with the most lovely couple, Mary and Hugh, and we did not want to be late!

Join me soon for a bit more of 'Sal's Snippets on tour' !!

;-)

  2. I think the English Tourist Board (or whatever they are called these days .... our lot are now 'Visit Scotland') I think I've been in Hay on Wye - but it was back in 1989, and Malcolm isn't here for me to ask!!

  3. I must go back to all these places again! Last time we went we had three toddlers under six in tow so we didn't really appreciate much then, now it is just us two!
I would really love to go book festival time but.......

  4. There used to be an excellent vintage clothes shop in the town called the Hay Gallery that I used to buy my clothes from in the late 90s, but it closed down a few years ago unfortunately.

Thanks for the shopping tips - I think a visit to Hay is overdue now!

  8. Hi Sal
I have been wondering how you got on with your travels.
Hay is a place I would love to return to having had a very frustrating hour there, last time we visited.
It all looks lovely in your photos and good to see Louise Loves beautiful items.
    Looking forward to next instalment.

  9. What a lovely trailer for what might well be the Main Event! Can't wait for more about your break in Shropshire/Herefordshire! Of course, not being a crafter (am I the only one looking at your blog each day who doesn't sew or make things or collect 'vintage'?) I would have made a bee line for the bookshops and there I should've remained for the whole of the visit (with the exception, of course, of little excursions to the tea rooms ...)

PS I shall check out the website you mention for Louise Loves ... just because I'm nosy!
