Gadding about some more!!

Ashburton...a thriving little town, which is a bit like a mini Totnes.
We love it!
It's a ten minute drive from us ; we really are lucky!
Come with me.
Firstly, through this door into Sara's Lavender Box.

This is what happens when we get there...I do the mooching and the camera work!

The other one of us does the 'entertaining'!

Sara and her mum (I think they are being shown how a pint of beer is lifted!).

The shop is glorious...

Some hours later ..(!) we reluctantly leave!
(Or should that read 'I')
And cross over the road...

The Snug!
How I adore this little shop!

A lovely welcome from Ros, as always... I browse...
Delicious things are on the menu!
And then I spot three, little men... from Ros's own collection ....which I bring home.

I've been looking for some of these little, vintage, pipe cleaner figures for a while!

Just as I thought that the day could get no better...

In walks Nich...
He's holding this box!
For me! ;-)
Thank you so much!

And now I am whizzing off to Topsham to see Joe and her craft stall!
(But she does not know it..I am going to surpise her!)
Back soon with more festive fun and frolics from Ashburton , Totnes... and now Topsham!!
Have fun!
;-)

  1. Thanks for the tour. What a wonderful shop. Ashburton is def. on my list of places to visit. And is that a WORKING Aga in the shop? If so, it must be SO cosy. Also love the tree baubles. Am looking for some just like it, but keep missing them on ebay. xx

  2. Oh Sal,

Thank you so much for your lovely comment! I came whizzing over to see what you are up to and burst into tears when I saw the pipe cleaners! My lovely Grandad aleays made us things from pipe cleaners! It is such a fond memory and was buried away until I read your post!

Gosh I am tired to spontaneously combust like that!

Sara's shop is divine too! Thanks for the lovely photos,

    Sarah x

Of course we have decoration shops in France BUT not this sort of shops. It's one of the reasons I love Great britain (there are others too ... lol)and like spending holidays in your country !
    Have a nice Sunday !

  4. You wouldn't get my other half inside a shop like these, so I suppose that hoping an Aga might just appear in my stocking is a little too much to hope for......... great baubles!

  8. Ashburton just gets better - I really must investigate; it's not far from where I live. Love those baubles from Nich! We've put the tree 'up' today but I've not decorated it yet - the branches need to 'come down' - they've been with their arms upright in their stocking container for more than a week, almost two weeks, they must have cramp by now! Then, on with the lights, the strings of 'pearls' (I don't do tinsel) and then the deckies and finally, we all stand back and say "ahhhh!"

The chair in the first pic looks great painted, remember I was unsure whether to paint mine? Well they remain paintless for now, but maybe soon..

Thanks to you I have also been to ashburton and topsham, you really should charge a fee!

    Have a really lovely Christmas

  20. You are lucky to have such delicious shops so near to you, the Lavender Box especially looks like my kind of place. The baubles are great, they remind me of the ones we had on our tree when I was a little girl.

  24. what gorgeous shops - especially the one with the Aga - I could just curl up on that chair next to it with a good book (although, I suppose the shop owner might not be too keen!)

My mum has some of those pipe cleaner decorations - they were always my favourites growing up - I used to imagine them chasing each other (there were two) around the tree in and out of all the other decorations when we were all in bed, and would check the tree every morning to see if they'd 'remembered' to go back to the right branch at the end of their games!!
