Clovelly (in Devon!)

I came across this rather charming postcard whilst I was looking through my mum's collection, early this morning.

Somehow, it had accidentally found it's way into the 'Somerset 'section! Oh dear me!

We can't have that, can we?

But isn't it beautiful?

I'd love to see if I can get it enlarged and framed, I'm so taken with it!

  5. It's lovely, Sal. I have a decrepit old picture of Clovelly which I picked up at the boot sale, the famous view of the cobbled street leading down to the sea like yours. Have you been there? I rather fancy it. Have a fabby time in Totnes with Joe, oh I am jealous but then I will be away for a child-free weekend so cannot complain! We love the Munchkin but it's nice to get a break but twice a year!

  10. It's very pretty - did you know that there is a Clovelly in Cape Town, South Africa too?
It is next to the sea & runs up the mountain so is very steep - most of the gardens are sloped or terraced. You can do a bit of whale watching too.
There is a train station which runs right next to the sea & has a sign which reads "No fishing from the platform"!!

  12. what a lovely postcard, there's a fab description of Clovelly in a book of mine - In the High Valley by Susan Coolidge (it is the final Katy book) and it is just like that picture - even down to the donkey!

  19. Hi Sal,
The new CK shop is indeed in Winchester. It is in the high street where a bookshop used to be. If I am not wrong it is right beside JJB sports shop.
I really cannot wait for it to open! :)
    Take care.
