A treat!

We had a bit of a treat in my village, this weekend.
The lady from Lavender Cottage brought loads of plants from her end of the village to my end of the village. Better still they were deposited right by my front gate!
For sale! ;-)
I ask you, what is a girl to do when this happens?
Well, what would you do? ;-)

Alpines, herbs, perennials and annuals...a real good variety!

I bought a few more of her Penstemons . I just love the names of these... Heavenly Blue, Apple Blossom, Garnet, White Bedder .
I also bought some alpines for a tiny corner of my garden.
And a couple of Thymes...and a Lewisia...and a Lithospernum!

And if you are anywhere near Newton Abbot, then she is in the Farmers' Market on a Tuesday. It is held in Courtenay Street. (But she's not there this Tuesday.)

Oooh I just love it when the traders come to you! ;-)

But that's not all! The church was full of the most beautiful floral arrangements...

I could not arrange a flower to save my life but I always love to see what can be done.

Finally, in the village hall, was a fabulous display of various historical happenings in the village.

It was really well put together too. I could have spent all day reading it all...but I didn't as I had to visit the plant stall... a few times!;-)

  1. What beautiful photos Sal - but how unfair to put her stall outside your house!!!! I wouldn't have been able to resist either (a few times too!!!!)

  2. Is the lady from Lavender Cottage going to make parking outside your house a regular event?!! She must have known you would buy up her stall. I wish I had a lady from Lavender Cottage come and visit me! The church arrangements are lovely. I like the way the colours are put together. You really do come from a wonderful part of the world you know.

  4. Sal, your photos are gorgeous! Is that your garden she's set up her stalls in? I can only arrange flowers in one way and thats to grab the bunch, get all the flower heads level and then chop off all the stems at the same time. Works a treat!

  9. Oh it looks soooo gorgeous. I wsih I had more time and inclination to make our garden as pretty, but the soil is rubbish. Huge trees cast shadow most of the day and drain all the moisture. We even struggle to keep grass green. Flowers?... I can dream and look at your photos :o)

  13. Oh my word. She was tempting you with her wares, and I don't blame you for having to buy - I'd have been exactly the same. Beautiful photos, Sal. x

  14. Well I didn't thik your cottage could look any prettier - but there you go, more plants arrived and you bought most of them by the sound of it!! I wouldn't have been able to resist either.
    Everything looks so pretty Sal.

Yes, isn't that a great pic of the girl on the train - it stirs such memories of when I rode from Torquay to Torre Station, then we'd take the Shiphay bus up to Marldon Road - exhausted from a day in the sun and sea.

  21. Your garden must be looking a picture Sal with all these new additions. I really need to take a trip to a nursery or garden centre. My garden is looking quite tired in parts. I wish a stall full of plants would appear just outside our place! x

I am a great fan of Penstemons and planted three different colour last autumn though I can't remember their names..! One must be Garnet as it is a beautiful dark red..
