On a very hot Sunday....

... we whizzed down the A38, towards Plymouth.

Endsleigh Garden and Leisure
The trouble is nowadays, in my opinion, these garden centres have far too much non gardening items/ gift stuff...and I hate that! So, no photos of any of that today!

We loved these bottle brush trees.

Wish I'd taken my scissors! ;-)

I left the fairy to sun herself .

We purchased three Clematis..Nelly Moser , Blue Eyes and Gillian Blades.
(Will blog them when they flower as I picked the ones with lots of buds!!)
Plus these Gerbera, Kalanchoe and mini Dahlia, which are all red...but look more pink on here.
Then we made our way back to our favourite small pub in Ashburton...
Ha ha...even my fave pub has the name 'Exeter' in it!! ;-)

And as I was waiting for my drink, I spied this on the bar..

We've always had this song at Torquay...'He's here, here's there , he's every......where.' And there he Ashburton! ;-)

On the way home we drove through the lanes, past my very favourite house:

What a wonderful way to spend a day. I am surprised that the gardening centre wasn't packed! A lovely cold drink in the pub and a sighting of Hilly - life can't be bad!!!

That gerbera would have found it's way into my basket too! Isn't it gorgeous?

As for your favourite house - wow.

Oh poor Hilly. The look on his face says it all. You just want to hug him.
What a fab day, winding up in a pub and then a picturesque drive home. I'm waiting for my OH to get back from the pub - a post-dive debriefing is ALWAYS required! - so we can crack on with the first BBQ of the year. Woohoo!

Looks like you had a lovely day today amongst the flowers and the countryside. And finished all off with a drink at the Exeter Inn! What a lovely day!

RE: Your comment on my blog. No I can't remember Euro 88. I wanted to review all the Championships but I didn't have the time, so I thought I'd stick to the ones that have taken place since I was born! I learned a lot writing that today, I can't wait to do Euro 96 ;-)

Thankyou so much for visiting & leaving me a comment.
I loved all your nursery pics, used to spend many happy hours in them with my children. Now I live with the Garden Vandal, I am not so keen to bring living things home!
Love your favourite house!!

Sal, I love the pic of your pretty house on your banner - it really looks so Devonshire!! The thatched beauty in the last pic is great - can't beat a well tended cottage!

Sounds like a great trip - lovely flowers (I have a Nelly Moser too), and a visit to the pub - how perfect. Sorry Torquay had poor luck - never rains but it pours!!

I really like your new header Sal, is this your house?

A great tour through the garden center too, and what a small world, you have a pub called "Exeter Inn" and I just did a post on a neighboring town, "Exeter" California.

How funny!

Sunday was such a hot day wasn't it? Glad you had fun buying plants.....I'm sure we could all play 'spot the blogger' now-a-days on our days out! - A few years ago it must have been a rare sight to see someone taking snaps at a garden centre!

I love Ashburton, especially a shop called 'The Snug'

You can't beat a jaunt around a garden centre. To escape the gifts I think you have to stick to nurseries? I see you didn't leave without making a purchase, nice choices. I managed to drag my other half over to a local garden centre on Friday, I had a £10 voucher to spend, and I managed to get him in the coffee shop too, most unheard of! x

Hi Sal, sounds like you had a great day. That house is so pretty - I can see why you like it so much. And I love your purchases...I can't resist clematis, they're one of my favourite plants.

Hi Sal,
I can see why you like that house too. I wouldnt have enough to fill it, but I am sure I would eventually!more car boot sales!
Yes garden centres do have a lot of giftware too now, and its always quite expensive. We went to one the other week and sweets right next to the checkout. It just causes stress for parents, its always "mum can we have a giant bag of these each " , I am like "no"!

So glad you made it to this fab plant mecca, Sal.
I love your choice of clematis.. Nelly Moser was one of my Dad's favourites..!

I am working in reverse and have just caught a glimpse of your footies report.. I should have read this first before asking how it went...oops!

I shall have to look out for The Exeter Inn next time we are down your way..
