The Christmas book ritual!

It’s become a ‘once a year ritual’! 

In early December, we ( that is, Nich and myself) do the unveiling of the Christmas books! 

And so, on Wednesday, that is to what we did when I went to his house for coffee and a natter etc etc! 

 

Here are a few from his collection…he has others but they are mainly Christmas fiction. Above, is a beautiful book published by Barnes and Noble, which I believe was a present from Lizzie. A proper ‘coffee table book’!

And then we have the good old ‘New Yorker!’ I gave this to Nich a few years ago, having already purchased my own copy and enjoyed it so much, I found another copy for Nich.

Advent’ is lovely and full of wonderful recipes and ideas to really get one into the Christmas spirit! 

I’ve mentioned this fab book a few times! Another one for the ‘Coffee table’! Full of illustrations unique to this wonderful shop…it’s a must! 

I could not contain my delight when I stumbled across this ‘Folio Christmas Book’ whilst browsing in a charity shop in St Marychurch, some years ago! Oh, the delight! If anyone has ever bought a Folio book, you’ll know that it comes with a lovely slip case to protect it…and quite rightly so! I gave the book to Nich and then found another not long afterwards , also at a snip! A fantastic book! Dare I say coffee table, again?!

You can’t beat this lovely book, above, if you want a mixture of Dickens, Austen, Chesterton, Brontë, Hardy, Lawrence, Pepys, Rossetti, Mitford…and I could go on!  Immerse yourself in all things festive, snuggle down…and enjoy!

And then he had a smattering of Christmas books that inform and entertain readers re Christmas in other lands and how different nations celebrate the festive season. And the covers of these are so appealing! 

And so Nich has now stacked his Christmas books in his newly decorated ‘Christmas themed lounge’…all done for William, of course…well that’s his excuse! The words ‘big kid’ come to mind! 

And next, it’s my turn to get out my selection of Christmas books and ‘Oooh and Ahhh’ over them.
