I had company last Thursday as I was ‘faffing around’ by the greenhouse! And very friendly company it was too. Sometimes, the simplest of pleasures delight, don’t they?!
I’ve been trying to have a good, autumn tidy up and get myself organised for next year. Many Foxgloves have been planted along with some Primula and Primroses.
About a month ago I chopped back this Campanula ..and it’s decided to reward me!
I’ve also been keeping an eye on this little spot in the garden as I planted some Lily of the Valley here, a while ago. I have a trusty friend overseeing things…
An old and rather mossy Devon pixie, which we discovered when we moved here!
The Skimmia is full of berries and rather lovely.
And there’s still some colour in the garden.
On Sunday, we went out for lunch with William and family. William loves his food and thoroughly enjoyed his lunch…and pudding! Nich said how proud they were of William as he’s settled into school without any fuss whatsoever and he has made plenty of friends.
I noticed this on a nearby wall…very wise too!
Today, we went to our favourite nursery, Longcombe as I wanted to find a garden gift for my sister’s birthday. Rather than buy flowers that don’t last for very long, I thought I’d give her a shrub for her garden. Knowing that she really likes Hydrangeas, I spotted one that I thought she’d enjoy. However, I also spotted some pretty Hebes. I was in two minds but in the end I decided on the Hydrangea.
Everything there was so pretty, as it always is! We didn’t have the best of weather in September but we are having it now, in October! It was really warm today!
Always a pleasure!

I'm so glad to read William is settling into school, bet your missing him, I know we are missing Molly. Your garden is full of color, the flowers are staying much later this year, how lucky to see a Robin so close, sadly Lilly our cat keeps them away in our garden.
ReplyDeleteSo many delights in this post, You've reminded me to look for my campanula. I love the Devon pixie, and a robin to lend a helping beak is always welcome.
ReplyDeleteI came in search of Fungi (very excited to see them!) but got beautiful flowers and a darling Robin instead! So glad William is enjoying school so far!

ReplyDeleteCompany while faffing around by the greenhouse sounds like a lovely, simple pleasure, those little moments are the best, aren't they? It's satisfying to get that autumn tidying done and planted up for next spring. What a wonderful surprise to see the Campanula rewarding you with a second bloom. The Skimmia berries and that old mossy Devon pixie are charming garden features. Lunch with William and his family sounds wonderful, and settling into school so easily, making friends, that's such a great thing for his parents to be proud of. The Hydrangea for your sister is a perfect, lasting gift, a lovely thought.
ReplyDeleteA really beautiful series of photos! And William is absolutely delightful!
