End of the week snippets…

Can you really beat a bunch of Sweet Peas? I always look forward to the first bunch…I forgot to take a photo of those and so this is the second bunch, picked by Mr Snippets, as I couldn’t reach them all! And the scent is divine! I bought various packs and mixed them; my favourites are Air Warden ( red) and Cupani ( purple) but I sowed many others as well.

It’s sweltering hot here, as I think it is across most of the U.K. I feel sorry for the garden! However, the appearance of the purple Hydrangea in the back garden has certainly added splashes of colour.

I’m delighted with these Mesembryanthemum ( or Livingstone Daisies), below! Before they bloomed, the leaves looked so sad, like a load of floppy dishcloths! In contrast, the flowers are so lovely.

Thursday was ‘William day’. He’s fascinated with flowers ( and all things nature!) and he wanted to take home one of these Dahlias for his mummy…I should’ve taken a quick photo before I removed a very large bloom for him to take home! This Dahlia is a beauty ; it has loads of buds and it’s called ‘Garden Wonder’. My other three Dahlias are yet to bloom but that’s fine as I don’t want everything blooming at once!

These Phlox plants have excelled…but I have to admit that I didn’t grown these from seeds; they were an impulse buy, way back in May…and well worth the money for a couple of trays as they’ve lasted and lasted.

I did, however, sow these Antirrhinums, below, from seeds. This variety is called , ‘Chuckles’. I’ve just realised that I have a ‘Chuckles’ and a ‘Giggles’ in this garden, which makes for a very happy place! I just need a third, similar plant name as things go in threes, don’t they? Maybe ‘Chortle’…?!

I’m trying to grow more drought tolerant plants such as Lavender and Thyme, and also for the bees. I planted this Lavender about three years ago and it has a new neighbour in ‘Rose Chic’.

As I mentioned, yesterday was spent with William. When I was ordering two garden chairs from IKEA, I added a few arty bits for William, to the order. One of these was this lovely roll depicting a ‘Woodland’ theme. As he is going through a phase of loving ‘colouring in’, I thought he could enjoy doing this whenever he visits. I also bought the matching box.

Oh and we did some spiders…lovely! 🤣🕷️🤣🕷️🤣🕷️🤣

It’s been a good few days and now we’ve reached the weekend…I wonder what that will bring? Hopefully, a win for Alcaraz in the Wimbledon  men’s final on Sunday! Federer was always my favourite and I think, like Federer, Alcaraz has many fine years of tennis in him. We shall see!

Have a happy weekend, whatever you are doing! 😁

  1. I'm looking forward to 3 finals today as there is mens doubles and wheelchair doubles. Hope Alcaraz can win too. I think he'll still be playing long after I've departed this world!
