Sunday

It’s a treat to go out to Sunday lunch and that is what we did yesterday. We’ve never been to The Ley Arms, which is situated in the idyllic village of Kenn. It’s about 15 minutes, by car, from where we live. The Ley Arms is a most attractive, Grade 2 listed building; apparently, it was built around 1300 and is one of the oldest public houses in Devon.

We sat in the garden room and enjoyed a lovely lunch, which was very generous indeed so much so that we couldn’t find the room for dessert!

Afterwards, it was back through the Devon lanes as we made our way to Powderham for a quick mooch in the plant centre.

I couldn’t get a very clear photo but there were plenty of deer enjoying the first day of June.

As my garden is now quite full, I came away with just the one plant; a plant that I’ve been looking out for, for some time…Nepeta.

As you might have spotted, Mr Snippets is in the middle of replacing some trellis near the back of the garden, behind which is my greenhouse. It’s a bigger job than it looks as some of the wood was rotten. We’ve chosen the paint; the colour is ’Rosemary’ by Cuprinol…Watch this space!

I’m pleased with the garden, especially now that the Roses have made an appearance.

The one rose that hasn’t bloomed, yet, is my favourite…Peace! Here’s hoping that it will bloom very soon!
