I’ve spent the morning trying to keep on top of the dead heading. The weather has been mixed, with the occasional shower, but it’s still very warm and so humid; I call it ‘proper growing weather’!
Just as some of the larger flowered roses are fading a little, it’s the turn of the roses with smaller flowers. Enter… ‘Giggles’ and ‘The Fairy’!
I first discovered ‘Giggles’ in 2017 when I was strolling around a local garden centre, Fermoys, looking at Roses for our previous garden. ‘Giggles’ jumped out at me as it was simply giggling all over the place. It made me laugh! It was such an apt name and I couldn’t resist it!
I bought ‘The Fairy’ a couple of years ago and in contrast to ‘Giggles’ it’s less in your face, preferring to quietly get on with it.
Meanwhile, the Lavender that is doing really well in the garden, is a variety called Bee Zee. I planted these a couple of years ago and I bought one each of a pink, purple and white variety. They behave really well and they don’t grow too tall.
Of course, if you could smell photos then this would be one of the best…a Philadephus ‘Belle Etoile’ (Mock Orange). It’s really lovely!
And finally, aren’t Penstemons lovely plants?
These are in large pots and they seem to love this corner of the garden.
Dead-heading can be a career in itself! Beautiful blooms, as ever.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos. So refreshing and calming, much needed as Montreal is gearing up for a serious hot 🔥 🥵 and humid few days...heat wave.
ReplyDeleteThe lavender is gorgeous. I love the different coloured varieties, but my favourite is always purple. X
