Just William…

Well, he’s had his birthday, and a fine time he had too! We were able to spend Sunday with William and his mum and dad and then they gave him the most wonderful day out on his actual birthday on Tuesday. He went to Jurassic Discovery and the Seaton Tram Railway.

And so now he is 4 years old.

Yesterday, we went to Buckfast Abbey together. As I got into the car, William announced that he no longer wanted to be 4… and that he was 3 again! 😂

After Buckfast and a wander around the new plant centre, Nich then said that we would nip into Plant World on the way home, (where they had put out more plants since Saturday!) They some rather lovely delights for sale…

This Delosperma, above, caught my eye as did this lovely Peony, below. It caught William’s eye too and he announced that he wanted to, ‘Take this home for Mummy’…and he was ready to pick it!

And then it was back for lunch and a look around their garden…which is always inspiring!

Last year, for her birthday, we gave Lizzie a garden voucher for some bulbs and she chose a lovely combination of tulips which have been stunning!

I noticed this beautiful Ceonothus tumbling down their steps.

And they too had been to Plant World, last week, to stock up on Nemesia!

Nich's mini pond was looking good.

And I thought that these wall ornaments were rather charming.

And now we’ve arrived at Thursday, the day that we look after William.

Instead of art and craft we have been sowing some Sweet Pea seeds and decorating the labels. We’re a bit late sowing the seeds but I’m sure they will be fine.

And now they are all watered and ready to go home to William’s garden so that he can watch them grow.

Finally, later in the afternoon, William was a policeman…it’s amazing how any kind of hat can always lead to some kind of role play… and much fun!  👮‍♂️ 👮‍♂️ 👮‍♂️

What a wonderful week he’s had…and oh to be 4 again!

  2. Lovely, colourful plant markers. Perhaps William thought if he could be three again, he might have another wonderful fourth birthday treat.

  4. What a fabulous birthday treat for William at Jurassic Discovery and Seaton Tram Railway. He looks like he was having so much fun. Happy birthday, William. I hope he enjoyed sowing the seeds and decorating the labels with you.
Do you think I could get away with William's philosophy about age? Or are we as old/young as we feel each day?
