We’ve had some rain, which has pleased me! Yet, I’ve still managed to do quite a lot in the garden, especially pricking out seedlings, as well as potting up some Dahlias, sown from seed. Everything is very green and lush!
I’ve never sown Thyme seeds until this year. They germinated very quickly but they were devils to prick out as they are so small, In the end I became so exasperated that I did them in a few ‘clumps’ . I just happened to have some trays with very small pots in them. I’m sure they will be fine…I want to plant them around some stepping stones that are in the lawn, just to soften the edges…and attract the bees, of course.
Meanwhile, I think that Roald Dahl would be delighted at this gorgeous rose, named after him! It’s blooming lovely!
The Hostas are doing well with just a few nibbles but I’ve found something called ‘Slug Gone’ that I’m going to put down if the nibbles continue…
‘Slug Gone is the natural way to keep slugs and snails away from plants. Popular amongst environmentally-conscious and organic gardeners, Slug Gone is 100% natural and derived from British wool.
Slug Gone is applied to the soil below the plant to create a irritating, absorbent mat that works as a natural slug repellent. It prevents slugs and snails from reaching the plant, whilst adding nutrients to the soil and locking in moisture.’
We shall see!
A pretty Primula has suddenly popped up in one of my old sinks and I’m loving the Geraniums in this old wash stand.
It’s half term and, today, it was good to be able to get the cousins together, for the morning. In spite of the age gap, Meg and Toby are so good with William…
William loves to see them!
The sun came out at lunchtime and so I sat outside with William and we watched as nature busied itself all around us.
Back inside, William enjoyed doing some of his sticker book and some animal stencilling.
It's good for cousins to get together and the time gap will shrink as they grow older.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see the cousins enjoying each other's company. Makes me smile just looking at their photos. You have a beautiful home and garden. Lovely blooms and plants and did you paint that wall mural. It's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHi Denise! My daughter painted the wall mural.

Thanks for the answer Sal. Please tell your daughter I think she is a very talented artist. She did a marvelous job of it. I will click on the link too.
DeleteI do that sort of clump planting sometimes myself and it mostly seems to work fine. I've not tried growing thyme from seeds but seeing your success I might try it for next year. I hope 'Slug Gone' keeps the pesky molluscs away from your plants.
ReplyDeleteLovely to see all three cousins having fun and enjoying each others company. Happy days.
Have a great week and start to June.
