Mothering Friday, Gardening Saturday and Mothering Sunday!

On Friday, my lovely daughter, Helen, took me to the Craft Show at Westpoint, Exeter, for an early Mothering Sunday treat. It was so busy that I wasn’t able to take many photos but we had a lovely time browsing the items on sale.

The most colourful was this display of modern fabrics, which included some of my favourite designers, including Jennifer Paganelli and Kaffe Fasset.

Earlier today, Nich and William took me to St Bridget Garden Centre, (which is also on the outskirts of Exeter) for a Mothering Sunday trip plus coffee etc!

It was lovely to go somewhere different. The range of plants, particularly the spring flowers, were delightful.

Back home…and…what’s occurring?

We’ve decided to improve this area of the garden and dig a proper pond! We know that we can do better than the container pond.

Thus...yesterday, investigations began! Oh heck!

Pebbles to deal with; gravel to remove; a plastic anti- weed mesh to remove...and not forgetting heavy clay …and if that’s not all, that done, he met a load of rocks! What fun!

I’m hoping for wonderful things! Although it will be smaller than his previous effort…

I’m sure that it will be lovely!

  4. It seems like we are both on a similar journey with new ponds. It will be good to see how they develop and to enjoy the wildlife that will make their homes in our gardens. Well done to your husband for all that digging- but it will be worth the effort. A garden centre is like a sweet shop for me and I have to be very restrained - sometimes! The craft fair looked like a fun time was had with all those beautiful goodies too.
