From Devon to Edinburgh!

Yesterday, was dull, damp and dreary outside but my heart sang when…yay…I actually sold one of my clipboards! I didn’t think anyone would buy it and it was standing proudly in my workroom, for inspiration!

It’s going all the way to Edinburgh; I hope that the owner gets much pleasure from it!

I’d loaded it with some genuine vintage cotton fabrics from the 1930s/1940s and on the back I loaded it with lovely scrapbook papers from Cambridge Imprint.

I’m so glad that someone liked it enough to buy it!

Feeling so frustrated with eBay, I’d also put it on to my Instagram page, along with my other two clipboards. Lo and behold, I received a message from a blogger who had bought a clipboard from me over ten years ago! And she still has it in her kitchen and she said that she ‘ loves it to bits!’ That brought a smile to my face!

Meanwhile…I’ve been ‘faffing around’ with papers!

A few years ago, when we visited Totnes, ( which was frequent as we live fairly close to this fab town!), I used to dive into a craft shop and I would spend ages browsing! It was a wonderful, little shop that sold so much. Amongst the items for sale were large packs of handmade papers, which I loved to use. Sadly, the shop closed down and that was that!

Having used all of my stock, I’ve since searched for these papers ; they are textured and a bit different and I like to mix and match them with other types of paper. Last week, I found four packs online, and with a simple project in mind, I got out the jolly old Sizzix…

…and I  started to cut plant pots and flowers…this is really easy work!

The only extras needed were some buttons and a few simple embellishments!

They turned out quite well, I think. I’ve popped them into my shop (which is on my sidebar).

A few days ago, I was wondering what to do with some left over ‘dotty fabric’. Owls came into my head…and so I made seven ‘quirky’ owls with the left over fabric and some scraps of paper. I always keep scraps as you never know when they will come in handy!

These are flying over to my shop ( twit) t(w)oo! 🦉

Do you know that a group of owls is called a ‘Parliament’?

This collective noun comes from C.S.Lewis’s ‘ The Chronicles of Narnia’ which was published in the 1950s. Apparently, C.S.Lewis changed Chaucer’s phrase, ‘The Parliament of Fowls’ to ‘ The Parliament of Owls’.

So now you know!

And finally…talking of Narnia…and thinking about my favourite town in Devon…😁
