Today, I’ve had buttons and fans on my mind! ππ±
I purchased this wooden box from a lady called Gertie, at a vintage fair, in Portscatho, some time ago! And from that day onwards, it has stored buttons.
As you can see, it opens out on each side and folds up when not in use. A very clever design, really.
I also have a couple of other useful boxes with compartments, also containing buttons. In short, I have far too many buttons!
On Saturday, I did the most stupid thing! π±
My buttons were all muddled up and so, in a moment of madness, I tipped them all out onto the sofa and decided to sort this ‘mountain of buttons’ into colours. In hindsight, I should have waited until William came for the day! He would’ve enjoyed it more than I did!
It took two days to do this sorting, and had my dear other half not stepped in to help me, I would’ve gone mad!
And now, of course, I’m wondering what to do with all these buttons! My mind has been working overtime, as it usually does!
I picked out my favourite buttons, that I bought many years ago from a little shop in town, sadly now long gone. I then looked through some packs of Prima flowers and scrapbook papers.
What to do? And then I had a brainwave…fans! I know that I did something like this years ago but I could improve on it. And so I played around with sizes and making templates.
I must just mention that, recently, I found this brilliant website, called Printable Heaven. It’s superb because it sells loads of crafting items…for £1! I’m not kidding! This particular scrapbook pad, called ‘Eastern Delight’ was £1! I love the colours.
I then selected some more scrapbook papers and made two more fans.
I was so pleased with these three…
…that I made three more!
However, I have to laugh! I’ve only used 6 buttons out of the hundreds that I own! π€£ππ€£π
I loved to play with my grandma's button box when I was a child and still have a small tin of buttons somewhere. Yours are lovely and the fans are so beautiful, no wonder you were pleased with them:)
ReplyDeleteThose fans are beautiful. You have a lot of buttons! I used to play with my Grandma's buttons when I was young and still like pretty buttons.
ReplyDeleteI replied to your comment about haiku on my blog. There are links to several haiku related websites in the sidebar of my blog, if you're interested in finding out more about haiku.
This is such a cheery post to start my early morning off. Gorgeous creations, so colorful and bright! I love everything here. You made me smile when you poured all your buttons out on the sofa. This is like something I would do, though I don’t think I could come up with something like you have.
ReplyDeleteOh Sal, your fans are GORGEOUS! I love them. You have more patience than me to sort out all those buttons π I would probably have just scooped them all back into the box to deal with 'later' π

A lovely little project with scraps of paper/card and buttons. The fans look fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI think all those buttons would have driven me crazy to sort out though
