It must be a January thing, as almost 15 years ago, to the day, I was sitting in my craft room, creating and making, ‘Scallywags’! Here’s the blog post: Scallywags
You probably know that the word, ‘scallywag’ can mean a child who misbehaves but in an amusingly, mischievous, rather than harmful, way.
However, you might not know that, in the U.S. the word can have a different meaning. Apparently, it can mean a white southerner who collaborated with northern republicans during the post civil war reconstruction period. Now you know!
Well…scallywags are back in fashion ( in my house!)
Fifteen years later, and there I was, at the weekend, sitting in my craft room, and I’m contemplating what to do; I fancied making something. It’s been so dull and dreary outside and I needed cheering up!
My eyes fell upon my Sizzix machine, which I haven’t used for ages. I have a box of Sizzix dies and my daughter has some too and so I messaged her to see if she had certain dies, as they call them, which I didn’t have, and hey ho!
I looked through my blog for inspiration, as back in the day I used to beaver away in my craft room, in my spare time, and as well as this, my mum and sister used to meet each week and do simple crafting. I do miss those days so much.
And so, this week another bunch of scallywags was born!
I got out the jolly Sizzix machine and cut some of the larger tags and then set to on cutting the bodies, the clothes, the hair, the shoes and the boots etc.
It’s quite a time consuming job!
And so there you have it…scallywags galore!
I don’t even know what I’m going to do with them..😂🤣😂
It did cross my mind to put them in my eBay shop and sell them as an alternative to a birthday card.
But I do rather like them sitting around on my desk, right now! They make me smile!
And I think that we all need something to make us smile right now, don’t we?!
