The Vintage and Textile Fair, Tavistock.

Let's start off with cake!

Then it will give us enough energy to journey through

the rest of this blog post.

Yesterday, we set off early and travelled across Dartmoor,

to Tavistock.

Lying on the River Tavy and on the edge of the Dartmoor National Park,

Tavistock is a lovely little town,

full of history. It also has a traditional, market hall.

Furthermore, it has this stunning town hall, which is where we spent the day.

We were there to take part in the Vintage and Textile Fair,

which was superbly organised by a lady called Sian.

I don't know how she did it but all day long there were crowds of people

coming through the doors. I was amazed!

It was a beautiful, sunny day in Tavistock too!

I took along all my vintage fabrics and few other bits and pieces.

My friend Amanda was next to me, with all her

wonderful vintage quilts, china, linens etc

There were many people whom I didn't know, stalling there

but here are some snippets of the things they had on offer, each stall

being beautifully displayed.

And then there was that cake...and more!

'More Tea Vicar' provided us, and many others, with all the nourishment

that one needed for the day.

And not just cake...home made soup for lunch, as well!

Oh..and not forgetting the home made chutney and marmalade

with which Avril was also tempting us!!

A huge thank you to Sian for organising another brilliant fair!

;-)

  2. I spy Dougal!

    What a beautiful ceiling.

Love the blue and white spotty china and the heart cupcake cases.

I wonder why I love seeing folds of beautiful fabric so much when I hardly ever do anything with mine?

    Have a great Sunday. xx

  9. Oh, Sal, how I wish that we could've made it across the moors to Tavistock, but we didn't wake up until quite late and by then it would've been too late to trek from here to Tavvi! What wonderful things on display - I'm sure I'd have found some pretty things for my little summerhouse - I rather fancy that green/gold 1950s water set. We had things like that when I was a child in the 1950s! And isn't the town hall lovely? Went to an antiques fair there a couple of years ago and reported on it for Collect It magazine (now sadly no longer published.)

  11. ooh it looks lovely - do you know what that book is that is in the front of one of your photos - lots of headshots of people (looks 50s ish) with some writing underneath each person - has piqued my interest, although lots of things look truly lovely there, especially those cakes! Are you doing Crikey in March ?

  12. I'm not certain but I think it is one of the cigarette cards books with pics of film stars. I'll try and investigate.
