The best diary!

If you were to peep in my diary, then the entries for the last three weeks

would send you to sleep!

Having said that, the pictures would not!

The Persephone Diary is one of the loveliest books!

And I am a huge Persephone fan.

Showing the endpapers from all the Persephone books,

each day of the diary is a surprise as it also gives you a

snippet of info about each book and the endpaper designs.

I'm really enjoying this lovely diary.

A pleasure!

Meanwhile, my dad has returned home.

I can't say that I will miss my regular trips to see him

but what I will say is that I have every admiration

for people who work hard in such places as care homes.

I could never do that job and when I asked one of the young girls

working there how she kept smiling day after day,

she replied, happily:

'I was born to do this job!'

Bless her!

Hope you all have a good week!

;-)

  1. What a beautiful diary sal. I have never heard of them. I buy Pink pig notebooks and personalise them - I keep one for each quarter of the year and stick photographs in as well as commentary - often quite boring. Where would I get a Persephone?

Glad to hear your Dad is home again - it is no joke getting old, is it?

  2. Hi Sal,
The diary looks gorgeous, if only I were a diary person - or had social "dos" to remember!
Is your Dad happy to be home? We've finally sorted everything and my nan is moving into the home we wanted for her on Thursday. I hope she'll be happier to be settled. Like you say, it is incredibly demanding work in care homes and thank goodness for people like the lady you met.

  3. Lovely diary! And, yes, many of the girls and women who work in care homes are wonderful; I don't know how they do it.

  6. There's nothing better than a diary that makes you happy even if it is filled with mundane notes!

Glad to hear your dad is home. My mum has worked with the elderly in hospitals and care homes for years now and I still don't know how she does it

  7. I was admiring your blog header and then saw it in the diary. I really like that pic especially. Makes me think of the film Rear Window.

What a wonderful answer to your question. I hope someone like that looks after me if I ever need it. xx

  8. Lovely to have you back!! The diary is gorgeous - I have a cheap and cheerful one, as I never write anything in it - I put post-its on the kitchen table!

  11. Hi, gorgeous diaries...not ones I've seen, but so beautiful. Love the really bright orange and yellow marigolds.
Hope your dad is happy to be home. Care staff are wonderful, and very dedicated...such a difficult job with loads of responsibility but not much recognition.

  12. Dropped by and was thrilled to see you back online - what a lovely Diary! I would be drooling on every page! Yes the folks who take care of the elderly (like my parents) are gems - I am so grateful they are here on earth. Glad to hear your Dad is back - how is your Mum? Take Care. Jewels

  13. That diary is lovely! Much more inspiring than my LBC (radio) diary! I am glad your Dad is back home now. Nice to hear about a lady in the care home who is so dedicated to her job. It must have given you confidence to know that she cares so much. x

  14. Really beautiful diary.
Glad your Dad is home, what a fantastic response from the young carer "born to to do this job", sort of person we would all like to look after us when we need it.
