Cup Magic! ;-)

Take a seat...there's plenty spare! ;-)

We're here for the magic of...

The F.A.Cup!

The competition where absolutely anything can happen!

As we walked towards the turnstiles , today, I smiled and thought

that you have to be a complete nutcase if you make a 730 mile

round trip just to see your team lose!! LOL!!

I just knew that Torquay would win today!

Carlisle to Torquay! Phew!

Glad it was not the other way around as I certainly would not
have been that mad to make such a journey.

Anyway...Torquay battled to the end... and tomorrow

we are in the draw for the 4th round.

For little clubs like Torquay United, this is one way to

make some extra money.

This mosaic, outside the ground, was constructed in 2005.

It brightens up an otherwise dull area!

Very close to Plainmoor is the area of St Marychurch.

This is where we often park and then have a stroll before the match.

'Bygones' is a fabulous escape into the past...although we didn't have time

for that today, I do recommend it.

St Marychurch has everything you need for your everyday needs!

It also has the only independent bookshop in Torquay.

'The House of Fables'

And a bonus was that the sun shone all day!

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!!

;-)

  1. Congratulations! And, thanks to the vagaries of the FA Cup, I the pleasure of an unexpected day off - I work in the Control Room at Leyton Orient, and as they had to travel to Norwich to play a cup game - I didn't have to work. And surprisingly - we won too!

  2. In the Bygones Museum there is an unopened packet of tea circa 1942, the tea was never drunk, it once belonged to my mother-in-law and we donated to the museum, and whenever we go to visit we try and spot 'our' packet of tea!

  3. I love the fact the little teams can play the big boys in the FA cup. I saw Liverpool play Exeter in the 80's, even King Kenny was there!!!! :) x

  6. What a Grand Day Out, worthy of Wallace & Grommit! To see one's team win (in the sunshine) and then visit St Marychurch ... a super winter day out! Bygones is great! Wrote a short feature on it for BBC History some time ago. And to think it all started because the owner bought a steam engine and had nowhere to put it so bought the old cinema and turned it into a museum (around his steam locomotive!)

  7. I thought about you when I saw the result yesterday. A rare win too for my beloved Villa.

  8. I had my first job in St. Mary Church and went to school next to Plainmoor although I'm not sure it's there anymore. I've given you an award on my blog.

  9. Sorry - we're not talking about the cup here (Malcolm supports Newcastle)! However he was able to watch the cricket three times on Sky, so that cheered him up!

  12. Don't know how Torquay did in the next round, but it's great you support a local team. Our local team B&HA have been at the top of the league for 4 months. We still pinch ourselves! x
