' Not too near the curtains,dear!' ;-)

I woke this morning (as one normally does!!) to find not only an arrival of frost on the lawn but also a severe dose of what only could be described as 'Christmasitis' in the west wing .

And from the room, emerged a bleary eyed son, managing a cheeky grin and uttering the words that December was here and the Christmas had begun..at least in his room it had!

I must admit that last night, when a bag, full of candles came into the house with dear Nich (and I began to panic and say things like, 'Not too near the curtains, dear!') , I knew something was about to happen!
This passion for Nutcrackers started last year , when he visited Munich...and then shortly afterwards we all went to York and found that gorgeous Christmas Angels shop.
Incidentally they have an online shop :

And then, about two weeks ago, there was a knock at the door... and in walked a new resident..two feet tall and rather handsome...
(Now he would make a great prop for Creative writing inspiration....Hmm I wonder..!)

And so... Christmas for the (2)5 year old in our house, has begun! ;-)

Meanwhile, whilst all this Christmas shenanigans was being planned.....I was off to Totnes!
Yesterday, I was very close to buying myself a Christmas present of all Christmas presents...
Gorgeous,1950s and just up my street...sadly the only room I would have had for it would be in the street...dammit!

As you can see, I paid a visit to 'This'n That' in Totnes.
It's a shop where I feel very much at home !
Lesley is so friendly, welcoming and full of enthusiasm.

I love this little shop...

Wow..sunbathing underneath a Christmas tree!
So much caught my eye...

And with that..I am off to a craft morning!

;-)

  4. My SIL text me this morning to say that her tree and decorations had all gone up

Nutcrackers are so cute, I've yet to treat myself to one - maybe that should be on the list for this year!

  5. what a great christmas display - it's definitely made me feel christmassy! Looks like a lovey time in Totnes - so many treasures to look at - my problem would be finding space for everything I wanted (well, and money too really!)

    Enjoy your craft morning x

  6. How wonderful that your (2)5 year old still loves Christmas so much. Certainly makes it that much more special. I made an Advent calendar yesterday and am now left with the aftermath of my manic creativity! I've got a little bit of bunting up and am hoping to get hubby to get my Christmas cottage down from the loft tonight.

  7. It looks as if Nich loves Christmas too -- Must have been inspired by all the Christmas Nativity Plays we did. Do you remember the 12 Days of Christmas and it was never mathematically correct and some cross words were exchanged between Nigel and Pat- Happy Days! x

  8. OMG Linda..How could I ever forget... my children and their THREE gold rings,(when it should have been five rings, looking like the Olympic rings)..charging across the hall..to the 'Chariots of Fire' Music!
I could not keep still from laughing so much, the tears were pouring down my face!
    Hilarious!
(But not as hilarious as Nigel in those cycling shorts..LOL!)

  11. I had completely forgotten those paper trees that open out - there used to be bells and balls as well, didn't there. Oh the magic of Christmas - so glad your 25 year old still feels it - long may it continue.

  14. Hi Sal, So lovely to see you on Monday! You couldn't have picked a better day since I'd been in the shop for most of Sunday putting up decs. and new displays. I'm a great believer in saving the decorating until the Christmas season is upon us ... so, I see is your son! What a great display! Thanks for posting your pics of the shop ... I always see the place from a new angle through your photo shots.
Hope you two had a lovely day in Totnes.

  16. Love all the Christmas decorations! Shame about not having the room for the cupboard, it is great. I am going to put down a visit to Totnes myself in the diary for next year, I think I would rather like 'This 'n' That' myself especially those guinea pigs!
    Take care

  17. Good evening Sal !
J'aime beaucoup ces décorations de Noël !
Les soldats de bois (nutcrackers) me font penser à un un ballet de Tchaikovsky que j'adore : "Casse-Noisette" en français (I think the title in English is "Nutcraker" too ?)I always listen this music during Advent and Xmas. It's a so nice ballet.
Lovelly shop too with nice vintage books ...

Thanks for giving us a virtual tour of that lovely shop!
