Tuesday craft morning...and a giveaway!

Oh, how I love Tuesdays!
This morning, it was the turn of my sister
to organise something for us to 'get stuck into'!

We arrived to find a number of lovely things, all laid out and ready for us to create.
'Advent calendars!' she said, excitedly ;-)
She'd found the idea in this lovely book...and she'd had a head start on us she was so keen!

So I pondered about colours! Like I do!

And soon got going....

The time consuming bit was making the small boxes.

But the best bit was... that in our places were boxes of goodies to fill our calendars.
(And a few extras!)

I'm sure that the 'men of the house' will squeal with delight when they return home from a hard day's work and see what I've been up to !
LOL ;-)

Yesterday, I washed all of my Christmas Village china.

This is my fave part of getting ready for Christmas .

My collection started with one mug, many years ago, when Masons produced it.

And now for a bit of audience participation...and a giveaway!
Do you own (or have you seen) any particular favourite piece/pieces of Christmas themed china/pottery?
Even if it is just a mug or a plate..it does not have to be a whole set.
Simply comment on this post and you'll be entered into the giveaway draw!
;-)

  1. What a lovely Advent Calendar, Sal! My husband is the one with the Christmas china collection in our house - his mum gave him and each of his siblings a Christmas mug each year throughout the 1970s and 80s. Even though the designs changed over the years (I like the 70s ones best), they make a great collection.

  3. My favopurite piece of Christmas china is a tiny little victorian mug, no bigger than an egg cup, that has a picture of Santa on it. I picked it up as part of mixed lot at an auction when I had my antique shop, but somehow could never bring myself to part with it. It's packed safely away to be brought out soon.......oooh it's nearly Christmas!!

  4. oooo lovely. I have a Spode Christmas tree dinner plate that I always use for my mince pies. It is very special to me as it used to be my Grandmas. My Grandma died when I was 7 and I loved her dearly so it's so nice to have something that belonged to her and something I associate our happy times together at Christmas.

  10. Lovely Christmas china. I don't have an actual piece of china but I do have a decoration, a gold bauble, which I bought for our first Christmas as a married couple in 1964 and which has graced every tree since then! Oh, and I love John Goodall's book An Edwardian Christmas which always comes out at Christmas. I also always read the Winter section of Sir Roy Strong's book A country Life (there is a lovely section on Christmas.)

  23. Your Christmas china makes a great display. I have a few pieces of Spode, which has to be packed away in the loft throughout the year. I rather covet a Portmeirion hellebore cake plate I bought for my MIL a few years back.

Thanks so much Sal for the comforting words you left on my recent Mum post. x
