Today, we drove over the moors to Tavistock, which is quite a quaint place to go for a wander around...but not in the rain!
And so, it was a quick scoot around outside, where I found...
In Tavi there is a fab indoor market, (which I have to say is heaps better than Newton Abbot indoor market!)
Lots of vintage/bric a brac /junk/shabby/French etc etc
Plenty of flowers and plants...
A good variety, that's for sure!
I vow to return soon as there were plenty of charity shops in Tavi as well!
We drove back to Dartmeet, consumed the best Devon Cream tea EVER at Badger's Holt ... but had a real good excuse for doing so as we'd had no lunch...!;-)
BTW I had to curb my spending today as I bought something pretty bloomin' gorgeous in the week...so watch this space!
;-)
Ooh looking forward to seeing your new gorgeous purchase!
ReplyDeleteThat indoor market looks really good, sometimes they are awful!!!

Friday is the BEST day for Tavistock Pannier Market all the stalls are out.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame about the weather, Tavistock is a lovely place, although haven't been there for years. Would have loved to walk round that market the stalls look fab!! x
ReplyDeleteIt must be like a holiday every day living in Devon! I am looking forward to seeing your recernt purchase!
ReplyDeleteI knew Tavistock thirty years ago Sal - must say your photographs tell me it is a very different place today - you certainly get around - and take super photos. Not sure about the knitted Christmas scene though.
ReplyDeleteOh Sal, what a lovely town and I just the love the hanging flower baskets. Even in the rain it is beautiful. Thanks for the tour.
ReplyDeleteWow what can it be? the mystery purchase is V.exciting! Really enjoyed the tour of the market, I really miss markets, we dont have any nearby, its a travesty!
ReplyDeleteLove Sarah x
Wonderful, I've been visiting a few lovely places recently via super bloggers who share their photos - now there are so many places on my list I'd like to experience - Tavistock looks good - even in the rain:)
ReplyDeleteHello !
ReplyDeleteNice photos !
I see a lot of objects I like at the indoor market ...
Hum ... tea, cream and ... scones (or muffins, or cupcakes ... lol)
I agree : the Devon cream is the best I ever eaten (Is it the right conjugation ?...) ... we have not exactly the same in France, we call it "Crème fraîche".
We went to an outdoor flea market yesterday ... we came back home completely soaked, it rains here too :-(((
I'm so excited! I will be in Tavistock in about 3 weeks! My family lives in Okehampton & I live over here in the US. Last time I visted in 2006 I spent a lovely day with my sister in Tavistock and I can vouch for the "Panier Market" it was fab. I am bringing an extra suitcase just for that!
ReplyDeleteAnd the pix of the tea-shop with the green porch out front...I was there too! Can't wait!!
Looks like a great place...another one to add to our list maybe?? My friend lives there & works in a shop that sells CK. I've never been 'cos in a nightmare to get to but I'm hoping they will open up the train station one day.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you brought :)
Thanks for showing us round, I really enjoyed that!
ReplyDeleteThe market looked great!x

One of the best blog with the best bits of England is certainly yours, Sal!
ReplyDeletehi, you are right about Tavy, its always worth a visit, even just for the pannier market. I always try to get there when I visit my folks down that way. There is a lovely shop outside the market that sells handmade soap and other nice smellies - the woman that owns/runs it was featured in Country living several years ago, cant think of what the shop is called.
ReplyDeleteOhhh I love Tavistock! And Badgers Holt - you lucky devil! x
ReplyDeletedid you bump in to my parents..? they were in tavistock this weekend!!
ReplyDeletehee hee
lots of love to you x
There's also a nice if tiny quilting shop there too
ReplyDeleteI've never been to Tavistock - need to remedy that omission at some stage I think. Not for the first time I'm wishing I lived a lot nearer to Devon!
ReplyDeleteI like the look of Tavistock. I just want to get in the car and visit Devon now. x
ReplyDeleteI never say no to a cream tea! We visited Tavistock a few years back, and I remember us walking along the river path. Did you see Property Snakes & Ladders, a week or so back? It was a couple who were renovating the old station into holiday accommodation. Maybe next time you visit you could have a nose! x
