  1. What a lovely day out! Your photo-clues at the start really made me giggle! ... and as for that pic of Mr Snippets with his carroty nose ... well!

As for my favourite garden flower? It's so hard to choose just one ... poppies are pretty special, just for the colour and texture of those beautiful petals - but, my all time favourite would have to be the climbing rose 'Albertine', simply because it's fragrance brings back childhood memories of being on my swing, right next to a fence covered in pale pink blooms!!

  2. What a gorgeous place - beautiful gardens and a marvellous haul you have there Sal!

My favourite garden flower? It has to be a snake's head fritillary. It has checks! Any flower that pretends to be gingham gets my vote.

  3. I loved seeing you both in your flowerpot guise!!! My favourite things change all the time but I think my current favourite garden flower would have to be cream coloured stocks. I love the fragrance and the showy stem of petals.

  4. Lovely photos, Sal. Fun and beutiful! We went to Rosemoor on a wet summer's day once, but I bet it was fantastic in the spring. Our last English home was in Harrogate, and we had a family pass for RHS Harlow Carr. It was wonderful to see it change over the seasons.

  6. You lucky, lucky lady!!!!! I'm with Simone in as much as I tend to have a favourite dependent on what is in flower at the time. At the moment its tulips, and just turning colour are my almost black ones..... stunning! x

  7. What a lovely day out! The plants look fabulous too. Since we had the ugly old conifers removed from our front garden I want to create a cottage garden there so I could just do with those plants!

I have lots of favourite plants but I suppose the ones that I like to see the most are roses.

  8. This is the first time I've discovered your blog....I'll definitely be back! Thank you for sharing.

Oh gosh, though, my favourite flower....that's a tricky one! I love lavender, lilac, hyacinths and tulips, but I think all time favourite has to be sweet peas!

Your hubbie was clever to take you there as a surprise trip. A+
Now fav flowers, that's a toughie, I love delphiniums, passionflower, wisteria, tulips of course, and paper white narcissi, oh just one, you're joking surely! Ok then, it's got to be peonies! By the way did you see my post about the chair restoration and the fabric you sent me? Love Salx

  12. Every flower has its own beauty and how can one choose between an elegant iris and a stately tulip? But I think, most of all, I love a pink paeony which, whilst not lasting long, is a delight when in bloom and has the most delicious, fragrant scent.

    They are my one weakness.

  14. Ooh, very droll, Daucus ... penstemmons are my one weakness, too! I also love hellebores.
I forgot to say, Sal: we almost went to Rosemoor yesterday but instead wandered along Torquay Sea Front, enjoying the delights (mainly culinary!) of the French Market which comes to the Bay each Easter.

  16. What a lovely day out, I've never been there but it looks great. I like the first picture of Mr S!!! I was looking into Gardeners world live this year as a treat, missed it for the last few years.

  17. What a brilliant fun post! Looks like a wonderful day and I like your buys, especially the grape hyacinths. I used to drive my Mum and Dad mad when I was a kid by popping the berries off!

My favourite garden flower is lavender because it smells lovely and I seem to be able to grow it quite successfully. Also bees and butterflies like it and I love to see them in the garden.

  23. Well done Mr Snippet's ... more Brownie points for you!
I would have felt just as happy as you Sal as I love any open garden but especially Rosemoor and the other great RHS Wisley.
I think you were incredibly restrained with your 'small' purchase.. when it comes to plants I love them all which makes it so hard to narrow it down to one.. but I think it would have to be ..Hellebores.. I love the variety of colours and the fact they flower when nothing else has woken up..

I hate choosing flowers but I would say the rose is my absolute favourite, so many varieties, colours and scents, I would never be bored ...

  25. What a wonderful place to visit. Mr Snippets made an excellent choice and I really enjoyed the visit. My favourite flower- difficult as there so many beautiful ones. There are always the roses of course but the one I never get tired of looking at especially first thing on a summers morning with the dew still nestling in it's petals is the Ladies Mantle (Alchemilla mollis). It reminds me of the new day ahead and the magic of nature.
