Hearts, flowers,striped shirts...and more!!

Saturday started early at the Snippets place today.
Generally, if I wake early, then I
can't lie in for very long...valuable crafting time you see!!

I really had no intention of making these!
'Everybody does hearts', I told myself a while ago!

But the fabric was shouting out 'hearts' at me..so hearts it had to be.

And then it was off on the train to Exeter!!
What a treat!!

I never tire of Exeter (as you know!) ;-)

And I never tire of looking in Jenni Flower, on our way to and from St Davids station.

My fave little flower shop .

Did I say we went by train?...

Lugets of Exeter have had a revamp...what caught my eye was..

these shirts!!

I wanted to cut them up and make wonderful things with them..there and then!

And the salesman soon came running out into Cathedral Yard, to see what I was up to!!

Apologies about the photo....as you can see, the cathedral kept getting in my way!

The window was a riot of colour and my photos don't do it justice.

Talking of colour..I found this wrapping paper in the best ever card shop on this planet...

The Card Gallery in Queen Street.

And this:

I can surely do something with these wrapping papers...but
if nothing else, I can just chop them into strips and pretend that these books sit on my bookshelves and that I am extremely well read.. LOL!

I also found this... a pad of paper with loads of pages, all the same..and my mind was working overtime as to what to do with it!!

Then I suddenly remembered why I really went into the card shop in the first place!
I was sidetracked as usual!
My dad's birthday is on Tuesday!
I foraged around and eventually found something apt.
My dad loves the past..he lives in it most of the time!
I don't blame him either.

Finally , as I wandered along Gandy Street, I noticed this piece of 'art' in a window.

I don't really like it that much but it made me think that maybe it was time I got out my paints!
;-)
Hope your Saturday was good too!

  2. Once again, thanks for the lovely trip to Exeter. Is it ALWAYS sunny when you go there? We're off to the mountains for a day's skiing tomorrow, which is something I never did from Devon, anyway!

  3. Great photos Sal. I think that last picture would be much better if it was an embroidery or an applique. What do you think?

  8. What a colourful post. Ooh, the flower shop is lovely and so are the photos, I would love to own a place like that. I am an early bird too, I am not a lolling around in bed sort of person. The hearts are very pretty, I can never quite get over the production line you have going, do you ever down tools! The nostalgia card for your dad is lovely and I would like to find some of the book spine wrapping paper too. x

  12. Hello hun

Yes everyone DOES make hearts, but it's for good reason, we all love them!!! Those look lovely.

That flower shop is so nice and colourful, I can see why you love it. I have a horrifying confession in that there is a flower accessories shop which sells other goodies too like easter decorations (judging by what I've seen by peering in the windows out of hours!) about four doors down from me and I have never visited it... MUST go in.

  13. I do enjoy our shopping trips with you Sal :) gorgeous hearts, love the book wrapping paper, it's fab. Laughed about the man in the funky shirt shop coming out to see what you're up to :)he should give you a discout for free publicity.
I like the painting reminds me a bit of Gustav Klimt, a riot of colour!

  17. Husband and I love Luget's. Husband had a jacket made there several years ago and it is the smartest he has ever owned. They also sell - or did when last we were in there - Alfred Sargent shoes (for men, of course) which are beautifully made and come not only in a box but in green shoe bags inside the box.

  21. Sal, those hearts are adorable. What a great job and I’ve been thinking and looking at my sash of fabric to make some kind of fabric hearts too.

See some great books there and the flower painting kind of grows on you. Happy Monday to you
