Hats ...Paper bags... Brains...and a Giveaway ;-)

Yesterday, we made it to The University of Exeter , for the Blind Lemon Vintage Fair..

Walking into the hall , we immediately saw a friendly face that we knew!

Hesta, who had a table right next to me at the November V&H FAIR!
She is such fun and so talented !

Her hats are to die for..not to mention all of her other gorgeous items.
Here's her website:

We had a quick look around...
Mr Snippets got some new Spring outfit ideas ;-)

And I found some tips on how to dress my man...

Actually, I don't think he is too worried about what I might choose for him to wear..but...

He did comment yesterday that he was very worried that he might wake up one morning and find that certain parts of his body have been 'altered' overnight!! LOL ;-)
***

We arrived home and I did a bit of 'easy' crafting...altering some paper bags!
Yesterday morning, I'd had an idea! ;-)
I was wondering what to do with those lovely Amy Butler cards, purchased on Sat ; I was trying to think of something to make, whereby the whole design could still be seen.
So...
I took a paper bag (the sort that I use for making paper bag albums)...

Folded it in half and stuck it to itself.
Stuck that to some black card so that the top of the bag opened.

And then I proceeded to stick those lovely Amy Butler cards on to the front part of the bag.
At first, I thought..ah receipts..everyone needs a safe place for those!
And then ,when I showed Mr S...he suggested various other ideas.

So..out with the sizzix letters...and receipts became seeds...

And once the seed was sown...

...there was no stopping me!!

Not forgetting...;-)

Snippets..naturally!

All from an idea!

Just imagine , if these don't sell at the fair, they will be hanging all over my house...and it won't be my fault, will it?!

***

The giveaway..tis easy!

Think of another word that could go on one of these.

I'll make one up for the person with the best idea, with the letters of your idea, firmly stuck on the front...or your name if you prefer!
***
Please keep the word to 8 letters or less !!
I'll announce the winner on Friday!!
And before I do forget again ..the winner of my last giveaway for the Chinese tag was
April (Cake makes the world a better place ) !

***
One last thing...

Ah yes!! Don't forget that tonight is 'Trimble night!'
***
Gail Trimble is the one woman annihilation company , an encyclopaedia on legs, who has taken on each University in her path and crushed them with her brilliance!
She bulldozed Exeter, almost single handedly!

If you don't know what I am talking about then watch the grand final of University Challenge, tonight at 8pm!
Phew! I wonder what it was like being her primary school teacher ?!! Maybe not too bad
...if it had been me, I would've given her my chair and told her to get on with it!! ;-)

  3. I almost went to the Exeter fair yesterday Sal but decided to go to the flea at Shepton and Bath fashion fair instead. It was a shame that they were all on the same day really. Did you get any goodies?

  4. Great idea for the bags Sal. How about some for 'Blogger's Bits'. I will University Challenge tonight - that girl will win it on her own!

  6. Hi Sal

That fair looks fab! Mr Snippets is very good about going to these things isn't he? Not sure my husband would be so accommodating (so I do my own thing in the week heehee)

I think I would make one of those lovely things for "memories" - to keep train tickets and entry tickets from a day out, or a little picture or card someone has sent you. I am always squirrelling such things away all over the place and often losing them!

  7. I can think of two labels that are dear to my heart. The first, Holidays. We are going to the Hay on Wye Festival this year in May and have been busy printing off all the places of interest I want to visit. And the second - well that is pure indulgence. CHOCOLATE!!
I could put all those little pennies in it to save up until my next visit to Hotel Chocolate, LOL.
    Your bages are inspiring, Margaret

  8. My idea would be invitations. Children seem to get lots of invites and it is good to know where they are to check out the precise details time, venue etc.

Bills is in Lewes and Brighton by the way. I will update my post to provide a link. Out of your way but worth coming over for a one night stay as they have Open Houses in Brighton (lots and great ones) every weekend in May.

    Love Emma xxxxxx

  9. Those are cute holders Sal. I was going to say tickets, but then I saw you had that already. How about one that just says "ideas"?

  10. We were talking about that Trimble woman when I went out with the girls to the pub the other night - she's something else isn't she?!

I think those little bag holders would be fab for my daughter's hair slides and ponytail holders, etc. But not sure what you'd put underneath the bag ... HAIR?

  11. I love these, i would make one called 'inspirations'. It could be filled with inspirational quotes and pictures as it's too long you could use 'dreams' instead or 'wishes' xx

  12. They are lovely - I am constantly amazed, sal, at your fertile mind - how you have an idea and then make real use of it. I know what I would like one for - all those receipts I get when I pay for something with my debit card - I save them - some in my purse, some in the letter rack, some inside my cheque book - then when my bank statement comes I have to trawl round looking for them. Not sure what I would call it though.
Shall watch the final tonight - that girl is amazing.
Sorry can't help with Great Expectations - never taught that!

  15. Looks like I missed a good day.. what did you buy?? I love Hesta's hats but they don't suit me... I got a refund on mine :(
Love the bags... I would say buttons but I see someone has already said that. My other idea would be 'scraps' as in scrap of paper to use as shopping list.. very 'green' or 'pill's' to put my vitamins in so I don't forget to take them!!!
'Patch' got a telling off today from the centre manager ..hahahaha
Have you left a comment for MelMel? x

  16. You are prolific Sal... you also make me giggle... especially refering to the fact that Mr Snippets may awake one morning to find various bits altered or even decorated! I always tear the stamps off envelopes to save so a handy pocket with 'Stamps' on would be useful in our fammily.
Your table is going to look great at the Fair.
    lots of love to you

  17. How about bits 'n bobs as a great way on combining all of your fantastic ideas?!

I'd love that! So practical and pretty :)

The fair looks fab, there's one this Saturday up in Durham, I can't wait!

  18. How about one for PETS! I could do with one for Gizmo. A place to put his immunisation card (misplaced at the moment), cattery leaflets, flea treatment!, vets bills, identity chip details etc etc. He would really be the cat that got the cream with an organisation system devoted just to him!

  19. You are such a whizz with the old glue & scissors Sal!

How about "Samples" for all those fabric samples we accumulate? or "Cards" for birthday cards that we want to keep?

  20. Gail Trimble was amazing! Thought Manchester were in with a chance for a bit there, but then she woke up and there was no stopping her. Mr Yeo (on the Manchester team) was from Lichfield as well so kind of wanted them to win, but then I think Gail could probably have beaten them on her own.
I think a pouch for the odds and sods you find when you check pockets before washing clothes might be handy. So either 'Odds' or 'Pockets' could go on the front.

  21. Wow! Do you ever run out of ideas?
    Well obviously not.
How about 'memories' or 'secrets' or 'remember'

  22. Looks like a lovely day out. when you do craftng you certainly go for it!
How about treasured. Mind you I know that might be hard to fit on!

  23. Hi Sal - lovely to see the photos of the beautiful Hesta - hope you had a great time at the fair.

And my oh my...how busy have you been with your scissors and glue?! The hanging holders are a great idea. Of course I would use one to store all my 'teeny scraps of fabric that are too small to do anything with, but that I can't bare to throw away' - but not sure that would all fit on the front, so perhaps 'treasure' or 'precious' would do it?...

    Happy Crafting,
    Niki

  24. After reading the other suggestions mine sounds a bit boring! I like to keep a collection of greeting cards which I buy when I see one I like but may not need for a while, so what about "cards", as I often can't find them.
