Opting to stay at home on Bank Holiday Monday was not a bad idea. A walk, around the lanes where I live, was a pure joy.
I caught sight of a Passion Flower , with masses of green fruit, entwined in a small oak tree.
Yes, the little, unexpected things in life, certainly please! ;-)
And the pleasures continued when today we were invited to a rather lovely lunch at a 500 year old Devon cottage. Naturally, the camera went along too :
I love Passion Flowers. I think I may have to get one, one of these days. Weren't you lucky to be invited over to that cottage? The garden is stunning and has so much colour considering the type of weather that we have had. What a lovely way to spend your day.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to see that summer hasn't bypassed Devon.. My garden looks distinctly past it's sell by date unlike this beautiful garden.
ReplyDeleteLove Penstemons... that is about the only thing that is still flowering in my garden..

Oh yes, a truly beautiful Devonshire cottage garden - lovely! We have such coarse grass here - I love that English turf all soft and short, perhaps with daisies and a few buttercups now and then!!
ReplyDeleteHope the rain has stopped for you - we're just now getting some from the tropical storm Fay, and there's another, Gustav, churning around out there - he could be a problem!!
Oh! that's just the sort of garden I dream about.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely day you had surrounded by all those beautiful flowers. The photo's of the Passion Flower are great, they're beautiful aren't they.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful Sal.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful garden! I'd love a garden like that but having a horde of barbarian dogs I have no chance.

ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful photograghs! Thank you for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteThere is a house at the bottom of our street that has a passion flower entwining itself around a small fence and I love to look at it as I pass by - the flowers are so perfect and slightly unreal. Oh, to have such a cottage garden full of flowers instead of the heavy, damp clay soil one we have where none of the flowers I love will grow.
ReplyDeleteAbsolute bliss looking at your garden photographs - the pleasure without the weeding!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous scenery!! I've never seen a passion flower up close like that before...it's stunning and so unusual! Like a really pretty little UFO. LOL!
ReplyDeleteSmiles, Karen
p.s. Thanks so much for your kind thoughts for my brother, I appreciate it very much!
Oh, that garden is to die for....my complete dream. At least I do have two passion flowers!
ReplyDeleteMuch rather be doing this than to be stuck in a traffic jam. x
