Grr ..people! And a giveaway !

I've decided that being self employed can be a nightmare!
I have not always been self employed of course...but when I became such, I found life very difficult and very different.
For a start, I had never asked anyone for money. My monthly salary was paid into my bank account, by the county in which I was working.
But then I entered the world of the self employed. And that's when I really found out about people and how they really behave.

My first few months were a nightmare...or worse.
I was too nice, too soft, was let down constantly, booking places for people who then did not turn up..and so on. I was not a business person. It was all new to me. But I was losing money.

Anyway, after a year, having been treated with disrespect from many quarters, I thought enough is enough and I embarked on a plan... my terms and conditions of my business.
I should have done it sooner but you learn from your mistakes and I should not have been so trusting in the human race from the start.

And so, I have my terms and conditions, to be signed by anyone who wishes to engage my services. All straightforward, plain for all to see, not difficult to understand, simply put.
And that should have improved matters.

So... what do people do? They sign without reading a damn thing!
And then they try to dictate to me, their business terms and conditions for my business.
(Not everyone of course..there are some sensible people)
So now I am on the lookout for my 'dream' job.
Preferably one where I don't have to have any contact with the human race!

Any ideas?

The best idea for my new job will win my it Amy Butler fabric make up bag!

Winner will be annouced on Friday;-)

Good Luck!

I've got it!!! You could be a hermit. They advertised for one to live in the grounds of a local stately home a few years ago. Maybe they would like to have one somewhere on Dartmoor? :o)

I'm self-employed and only have one staff member (me)

I find she is late for work most mornings.
She never makes an effort with her appearance.
Under no circumstances does she ever tidy up after herself.
She comes and goes as she pleases, and usually answers back.
However, she finishes her work to a very high standard nd I have to admit she does ocassionally come up with some good product ideas.
On the whole, I don't supposed I could run my business without her.

A job that means you don't have to interact with humans? Hmmmm .... working in a gentlemen's club?!

Or how about a childminder?

My first idea was a hermit but I see someone else has suggested that. Perhaps something with animals - snake charmer!!

I see you surrounded by donkeys, waifs and strays that need some of Sals tlc!

Though the pay wont be great, the only asses you would have to work with would be the donkeys!

How about one of those Living statues you see? All painted white and just sitting still with a hat at your feet - no-one will know if they're allowed to talk to you but they'll put money in your hat anyway. Make the occasional sudden movement and you should get a few laughs (and scare off anyone who looks to close... LOL!!

Of course if I ever move down to Devon (which may actually happen sooner than you think...) I could just become your credit controller. It's a job I've done in the past so I'm hardened to it. If it meant I could come and have a cuppa sitting in your fab garden or kitchen then I wouldn't need paying. Just the chin wag would be good :o)

I am nodding wildy here Sal..
I have been self employed for 14 years and STILL haven't learnt to be tough enough so consequently some of my customers really take advantage and I end up feeling totally demoralised..
There are benefits of course.. I can make a cup of tea whenever I fancy one..!

Don't let them grind you down.. I am sure you are doing a grand job!
