Busy doing nothing!

At least we have sun... and have done for the past few days!

I took an hour out this morning, just to sit, find a shady spot, drink a cuppa and observe!

Have you notice this in your lawns? It is rampant this year and really quite pretty.
I have huge patches of it all over my lawns.

It's called Prunella...or Self Heal.

I don't really have a probem with wild flowers or weeds invading my garden.

Apart from Bindweed, which is a pain...but the flowers are lovely!

I found an old wicker storage basket in the car port..and filled it with herbs etc

It really is just a day for doing very little..well that's how I feel today!

  1. Hi, I've just come across your blog. It is a relief to have sunshine and blue skies at last isn't it? I'm in Cornwall and it's the same here today,I've actually come indoors because it's too hot! Your garden is looking beautiful weeds and all!

We HAVEN'T got sun here. My darling sister (in Brixham) has been telling me how fab the weather is. It's really warm and humid but all I keep getting are little glimpses of blue sky teasing me through the clouds.
Please can you just keep the sun there til after the weekend when I will be down in Devon too? :o)

  3. Oooh Country Bliss has found you too!

Yes we have Prunella in the lawn too - loads of it - not sure how she got there.

It's slight overcast in Wiltshire at the moment - just spoken with my sister in sunny Bournemouth - oh well.

Your site brings back memories. Used to come your way on the train from Exeter when I was at college in Torquay. I also lived in Exeter as well as Topsham ... so interesting to see all your photos.

  4. Lovely pictures (as always) Sal. I too love bindweed flowers - almost makes it worth putting up with the strangulating foliage, doesn't it? x

  8. How lovely to live in sunny Devon! We have had sun in my neck of the woods today but unfortunately it was hidden by big oppressive clouds. It did show its face later in the day though. I could quite easily spend time out in your beautiful garden.

  11. Yes Sal I have more weeds than grass in my lawn! One year I dug all the dandelions up only to find a a lawn full of flowers the next day!!

I'm with you on not doing much in this heat, I'm not complaining though!

  15. What a lovely garden you have, the self heal has gone mad in my garden too, the lawns are covered in it and some of the flower beds. Whilst walking along the canal side this morning we noticed that it seems to have taken over there as well. :)

  16. What a beautiful yard you have---it's no wonder you just want to grab a cuppa and go sit and soak it in! So lovely!

  17. I do love the summer, but I really struggle with this heat, it makes me feel like doing absolutely nothing, which is unheard of for me. The other day we had a completely blue covered sky, today we have a completely cloud covered sky which will hopefully break later. Parts of your garden Sal look very much like mine and I can tell you love yours as much as I do mine, although I love it more when I get the chance to sit in it. x
