Exeter tonight.... is safe and well.

Today was one of those days when I was very thankful for the invention of the mobile phone!
My children both live and work in Exeter.
Within minutes of the news of some sort of explosion in the city, they each sent me a message and messaged each other too. I knew that they were fine and safe. I think they were more worried about me! Knowing how much time I spend in the city, that's understandable!!
To evacuate the centre of a city must be one massive task! But it sounds as if this was done superbly well.
At the moment there are too many rumours flying around to even make a comment on the whys and wherefores but let's hope that Exeter gets back to normality tomorrow!
In the meantime, I have appointed the above and below persons to keep watch over the city...until I get there!

  2. Golly - I hadn't heard about this! How lovely that your children instantly got in touch with you so you wouldn't worry.

On a more frivolous note - I love your little pheasant family!

  3. As soon as I heard on the radio that the roads around Exeter had been closed .. I thought of you. Later on the TV news all became clear as to the reason for the evacuation..
Thank goodness you are all o.k... Who'd have thought that Exeter would have this kind of incident!
I always think of running away to Devon to be safe!

  8. Glad to hear you are all o.k. Living around 15 miles from Birmingham it's the kind of thing we might expect to happen there but not somewhere like Exeter. It's very sad.

  10. I heard something on the news in between the girls yelling at one another but not enough to know what had happened.
Very glad your all safe and sound. It is a worry working and being in any city in this day and age of terror. I always worry when my partner Ben goes up to London to work in their London office. But never think about the funny thing is I never think about anything like that when I'm up there shopping. I guess if I did I just won't go and then the bad people have won.
    Stay safe honey.
    Hugs.

  11. I just had to say that I've just looked at your fabric shop and it's fabulous, so colourful and bright.

  12. I have it on very good authority that the Police and all the other emergency services, together with the partner agencies acted quickly and professionally, to contain the incident, thus ensuring the safety of all those persons in the city that day.
It is very reassuring that as this is an isolated incident of this type, that they were quick an able to rise to the challenge, not being caught with their trousers down,as it were.BRAVO!

  13. Too close for comfort this one wasn't it. I am glad you are all OK. You were the first person I thought of when I heard it on the news. At least they have caught him, but how many more are waiting in the wings. It is very worrying. x

  14. Good appointments! Exeter is doing fine. Like every shop in the city, we were put on alert and told to keep vigilant. It wasn't a nice feeling, but I think it's brought the city closer together. xx
