Looking out at the garden, one might think… ‘Oh how dull, oh how boring!’ But…
Take a walk around and it’s a whole different ball game! It’s very interesting!
For instance, I was quite shocked to see these Osteospernum plants, above, so full of bud! I did chop them back a few weeks ago. We’ve had a warm autumn and these are in a fairly sheltered spot and so I guess that they love the ideal conditions.
Similarly, having chopped back this Campanula, it’s decided to flower again.
I’m also fascinated by the dried heads of these Hydrangeas and how the colours differ, even on the same plant.
And what can I say about our Tree Fern?! We were so lucky to inherit this one. We usually protect it in the winter, even though we don’t get very harsh winters. It too, is in a very sheltered spot.
Meanwhile, in the greenhouse, my Lavender plug plants are doing well…note to self …’Do not over water!’
Brunnera leaves are some of my favourite leaves! These are HUGE!
And below…we were recently given a present… this lovely, weatherproof pot to attach to either a wall, fence or trellis. Isn’t it pretty?
A splash of red berries is always a welcome sight in the garden at this time of year…

Meanwhile…we ventured out today, not too far but just enough to ease myself gently into ‘going out mode!’ Longcombe Nursery:
There were some lovely Cotoneaster plants on offer…and so much more!
A beautiful Hebe was still in full bloom; there was still so much colour all over the place as well as some recent planting for colour to come next year…
And not forgetting plenty of colour in the polytunnel.
This stunning Gazania caught my eye…
It was certainly a pleasure to wander around.
That’s it for now! Meanwhile…

Looking good in your corner. I too love hydrangeas in every season but especially now with their vintage shades. It has been so mild up until this week with lots of interest but I love those brunnera leaves. B x
ReplyDeleteI really love that pot and I think it's been a very colourful autumn one way and another. xx
ReplyDeleteThe mild weather has prolonged the summer flowers, we had a frost last night, so I'm enjoying before they are gone. Berries add to garden colour at this time, i love your butterfly pot.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like just the right outing when recovering from being unwell. What beautiful plant displays - they are really inspirational.
ReplyDeleteLots of beautiful and colourful plants and flowers. The Hydrangeas are so pretty as is your new fence pot:)
ReplyDeleteLovely scenes! The hydrangeas are particularly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow, can't believe you still that many plants blooming. Everything here is ugly brown and or been cut back because it's ugly brown. You obviously have a wonderful green thumb. Glad you were able to get out and about a bit. Ease back, but don't over do.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right about finding colour in the garden even when the days seem dull. I'm sure that trip to Longcombe Nursery brightened your day too.
