Wandering around the garden, yesterday, the colour red caught my eye. 'Twas funny really; a mixture of what I call ‘stragglers’ and ‘newbies’ seemed to be greeting each other. It was as if the ‘stragglers’ were saying a final ‘Goodbye’ and the ‘newbies’ were saying, ‘Hi there,we’ve arrived !’ And I knew that this was a very brief meeting. Very soon, the ‘stragglers’ would be gone for this year…(some might to return, some might not!), leaving the ‘newbies’ to party!
And yet, they all had one thing in common…the colour red.
And all of this red made me suddenly think of a poem that I used when I was teaching. ‘What is Red’ by Mary O’Neill.
Well, certainly, the garden couldn’t live without it! And I have to say that the appearance of plants such as these…
We need something bright as the daylight time shrinks!
