From summer to autumn

Taking a camera for a trip around the garden, yesterday, even though we are almost at September’s end, there is still plenty of colour to be found. I particularly love these Japanese Anemones:

These appear just as the summer plants are fading; we have a really, lovely display of these in the front garden…

…along with an ever increasing army at the back of the garden!

Meanwhile…

I’ve made a start! I just hope that the squirrels don’t wreck what I’ve done. We don’t get many squirrels here and so fingers crossed!

Roll on the spring time! 🪴 👨‍🌾 🪴 👨‍🌾  🪴

This bench, by the way, is now ten years old. We bought it when we visited the Toby Buckland Garden festival at Powderham Castle, in 2015. I fell in love with it immediately!

It sat proudly in our previous garden and obviously, we couldn’t leave it behind when we moved. It’s now seen better days but it still serves a purpose!

Moving on and last week, I managed to find this little Cyclamen hederifolium, below. It’s the only one in the garden but I hope to find one or two more, having been inspired by our visit to Saltram House.

On Weds, I went out with Nich for our fortnightly ‘get together’. We visited Kent’s Cavern but we didn’t go into the caves, just to the coffee shop. However, two coaches with classes of school children turned up; I hope they loved their visit as it really is a wonderful place and well worth a visit!  Here is the info

We both agreed that our gardens are now winding down somewhat and he advised that there was nothing ‘photo worthy’ in his garden; he’s about to set to on the autumn tidying as well as planning a few alterations plus a couple of new additions as in some wooden planters which Mr Snippets is going to make for him!  And so, instead, I snapped one of my favourite New Yorker prints, as I’ve always loved this one!

And so here we are heading into autumn, chillier days and colder nights…but looking forward to the  stunning colours that autumn always brings to us.
