Sunday

Yesterday, we returned to one of our favourite places: Hare Spring Cottage Plants. It’s situated in The South Hams, not too far from Kingsbridge. Now and again, they have Open Weekends.

The very lovely Stella and Malcolm welcomed us, as they always do, and then, (having spent an hour in the car to get here),we made our way to the coffee/tea/cake tent!

Sitting by the stream, was bliss; the weather was perfect.

And then it was time for a stroll around, to look at the plants on offer and savour the flavour of this delightful spot.

…and not forgetting a bit of admiration for Stella’s gorgeous greenhouse!

It’s such a treat to wander around here. Everyone was so friendly and that really does make the day!

I caught sight of this Small Copper Butterfly as we were walking around…

I didn’t want to come away and I’m sure that we will return when they have another of their open days

And I didn’t come away empty handed; I bought one plant… and you can just spy Mr Snippets completing the transaction with Malcolm! This gorgeous Helenium travelled home with me!

We will return! 😁
Meanwhile, if you wish to order online, you can find the Hare Spring website here .

We made our way through the lovely South Hams countryside, stopping briefly near Totnes. I have wanted to visit this little honesty stall at Keys Englebourne Farm, for some time. How cute is this:

And I wanted to give it a mention because, recently, some lowlife went there, picked up various items and didn’t pay for any of it! Luckily, it was all on CCTV but I don’t know the outcome.  Anyway, we came away with two punnets of lovely plums!

If you are ever in the area, you can find it here

  1. Glad you enjoyed your latest visit to Hare Spring Cottage Plants. I love that swing seat and the greenhouse is amazing. Really beautiful.
Unfortunately there will always be those who take advantage of the kindness of others but the organic honesty stall is still a lovely idea.

  2. Your helenium is beautiful - so many rich colours on one plant. It was lovely weather on Sunday, and will be today - perfect Bank Holiday weather, for a pleasant change.
