On Monday, I strolled around the garden and picked a variety of leaves. I had an idea for William’s art and as he's been here today, a day earlier than normal, I needed to be prepared!
Out came the old flower presses.
I drew some cartoon faces on paper.
And hey presto…oh how we laughed!
And then he busied himself…
Meanwhile …after William went home, I wandered around, outside. It’s such a sunny day here in South Devon and so I took advantage of this and whilst the tea was cooking, I managed to prick out some Antirrhinums. I have Mesembryanthemums to do next; I’ve not grown those for years! Let’s hope for a sunny summer as the flowers open when it’s sunny!
I’m delighted with these Alchemilla Mollis plants, (above). I potted them from bare roots and Nich and I are going to share them. They will make great ground cover for the front border.
The Brunnera has become more of a vivid blue and is thriving beautifully in its shady place. And talking of shady places…
We planted some Hostas here a couple of weeks ago and you could barely see them. Now they’ve put on a real good spurt. What was a bare space will fill up really nicely.
As I was taking a look at the raised bed, I noticed some white Forget-me-nots growing next to the white Honesty, and so I now have pink, blue and white! I also took a peek at the pot of Blue Poppies…and what was a pot of three or four seedlings, a few days ago, has now become twelve!
The RHS advice says this:
‘As pot grown seedlings develop the first pair of true leaves, they should be pricked off into containers…Many seedlings are lost when pricking out.’
Oh heck! Watch this space!
Those faces are funny. Xx
ReplyDeleteFingers crossed for the poppies. Obviously, they like you, so far . . .
ReplyDeleteLove the cartoon faces and the wild hair.
I haven’t got wood long enough to make signs for them Mesembry thingies, nor enough paint either.
ReplyDeleteI like those faces, such a fun activity!
ReplyDeleteKeep going with the poppies, I'm wishing you lots of luck with them.
ReplyDeleteWilliam must have had such fun with you this week with the craft project of leafy faces. I hope those Hostas grow big and strong in their new home. Mine seem to have settled in just fine by the pond and so far the leaves are all complete!!
