Longcombe Cross Nursery, situated on the A385, not far from Totnes, is one of my favourite places to buy reasonable priced plants and to sit and have a leisurely cup of coffee…and that is where we went this morning. And what better way to greet you than the lovely board, above. I do like it when people bother!
It’s only a small nursery but it always has some beautiful displays. And I far prefer these smaller places where you can also wander into the glasshouses to see what they are producing.
I’ve always admired the large, rustic butterflies and dragonflies.
This little Tulip, below is called ‘Cape Cod’; they had these dotted about the place…such a cheery sight. One to remember for autumn planting!
And of course the stars of the show were the Narcissi, bringing a happy reminder that spring is on the way.
Contrasting well with the Aubretia, it all looked lovely.
It was well worth the visit and I came away with a couple of trays of violas, a couple of Creeping Jenny plants and a cowslip which I couldn’t resist… as I’m re- planting two large stone containers…photos when finished!
