My bag!! ;-)

Hello everyone!
Hope you are having a fab Friday!
Now then...
Last week, I noticed this piece of vintage fabric, at a well known site that begins with 'E' and ends with 'Y' ;-)

It caught my eye and I wasn't sure what to make of it (let alone what to make with it!)
but it grew on me and so... I snapped it up!

It arrived in super duper, quick time from the USA..and...well...
It is fabulous!
Firstly, it is wool or a wool mix. It is soooo soft yet strong.
It shouted out 'Bag' to me...but I don't do bags! ;-)
But there's a first time for everything!
So I found some thickish cotton fabric for the lining. be very very honest, I was not going to blog this as..

I didn't think it was ..umm...good enough!

It was only when Mr S arrived home from work...

'That's as good as some of the things you buy,' he remarked.

So, here it is, hanging proudly in the front porch.
The first bag I have made in a very long time.
The fabric is probably not everyone's cup of tea ..but it's kind of growing on me all the time.
The rest of the day (after my Friday baking!) I've been faffing around with fabric.
I love fabric!

And I've been finishing these...

I'm pretty pleased and I really did have a good excuse to cut up the vintage was quite bad with age marks.

And the best bit about planning tomorrow!!
I think that I can safely say that we will be staying in the county on my header pic!
But I don't mind that one little bit!
Hope you all have a great weekend !

You're having a laugh!

This morning, Amanda and I went for a tramp in Bovey Tracey
(The tramp didn't like it but we greatly enjoyed it!
LOL, the oldies are the best ;-)
First of all we 'did' the charity shops. All four of them.
Having achieved nil success and walking back down the hill with absolutely NO treasures at all,
we decided to go a bit 'up market'!

We took ourselves in to 'The Devon Guild of Craftsmen'
where there was an exhibition called,

I wasn't sure whether photos were allowed and so, sneakily, it was out with the iphone!

There was a lovely display of paper birds on the wall...
But at three for £600 (GULP!) ,we decided against purchasing....or even sharing a purchase and each having one and a half birds! )

There was an excellent display of paper garden tools, each decorated in
a unique way.

There were all sorts of other displays, clever and stunning...with equally stunning price tags!

It's worth a visit if you are in the area.
To be fair, my photos don't do justice to the exhibits.
I think that exhibitions like this certainly inspire one!

But...I also think that exhibitions like this, give one a jolly good laugh...IMHO the prices are ridiculous!
And so, the highlight of the morning, for me...was the coffee and natter! Priceless!
Of course, Amanda might say otherwise...and I am left wondering if she is now at home, sitting on her floor...creating with paper!

Who lives in a house like this? ;-)

How often are you inspired by reading someone else's blog?
If you are anything like me, then it's frequently!
By this, I don't mean 'copying' their work!
(And that's a big one for debate..for another time... maybe! ;-)
Anyway, I was very inspired, the other day, by a tutorial on this lovely blog:

And so it's back to being a 5 year old today!
Didn't you just love to draw houses, when you were very young?

Using vintage fabrics, I've been making my houses on an old embroidered tablecloth and hopefully have placed them so that the back of the covered notebook will also have a lovely, embroidered design.

I think this will take me all week!

For my 20 minutes crafting yesterday, I put the finishing touches to my clipboards.

I'm rather enjoying this house business ...but right now, I'm about to put my feet up, for an hour.
This morning , having popped to see my mum, she passed this to me...!
I've never read 'The Lady' until that interview with 'You Know Who'!!
Ever since , my mum has bought the magazine and passed it on to me.
And I have to say that it is a great read!

Lo and behold, I opened up this particular issue (Feb 16th) to find an interview... and way hay... there's my good friend Margaret Powling, who often comments on my blog!!

Great stuff Margaret!
Oh and remember if you do need an architect to design your new house...
don't come to me!
