I expect most of you have heard the news that
the price of cotton has risen dramatically
and so that's why we're paying more
for our clothing!
But, it's not only the price of new,
cotton fabric which is rising.
A few days ago, I watched bids on a piece of
vintage, cotton feedsack
...it was nothing spectacular either..
and it was up to $80!!
That was for a yard, 36 ins by 36 ins.
$84 is approx £52!!!
How crazy is that?
But there's always someone willing to pay the price!
Yikes!
I spend a lot of time sourcing fabric but there's
a limit to what I will pay.
Anyway, here's a sneak preview of the fabric
which is coming my way and I've found some
gorgeous little gems, just lately!
Plus... my fabrics have had a little mention
in the December issue of the magazine Sew Hip!!
It's a lovely write up, on page 13,
in the 'News' section.

Hope everyone is having a fun week!
;-)
Way hey Sal!
ReplyDeleteGood for you.

ReplyDeleteFun loving man seeks lady in her ***ties with a view to a lifelong romance, possibly marriage, providing she's not too heavily into crafting. Must have GSOH or at least a weak right hook and slow on her feet.
I think I might know who "anonymous" is......... I fell about laughing...........
ReplyDeleteDidn't know about the increase in price of cotton, but agree it was rather a lot for a piece. Well done re the magazine article, hope you get lots of trade from it. Realise I have been a bit remiss and not answered re the last weekend in November: YES I certainly hope to be there and buy from you again. :O))))
Tht's a nice mention & I'm sure it will bring you lots of customers!
ReplyDeleteYes, I noticed you in there - I've just taken out a subscription. It's a jolly mag; some fun ideas :)
ReplyDeleteWell done on your magazine mention ..... and I'm drooling as usual over your fabrics!!
ReplyDelete£52!! Someone has more money than sense. Hope they make something nice with it after spending that money. Perhaps they should frame it and put it on the wall.
ReplyDeleteHow lovely ... and very well deserved too, your fabric is lovely.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on the magazine article:)
ReplyDeleteGreat write up Sal :) I think the prices have gone up because more people know about it now, it seems to be the 'in' thing at the moment!!! :)
