Yesterday, a spur of the moment decision took us down to... Cornwall!
St Ives!
With its glorious beaches and little winding streets, I think I was in heaven for a while.
And the train journey from St Erth to St Ives..well the views are absolutely stunning!
On the train I said to dear Mr S...
'It's ok, it's Sunday and IT won't be open...but it doesn't matter.'
But imagine my (our!!!) hoots of delight when we found that the door was open!
I must have struck lucky as not only was the door well and truly open but I had the whole shop to myself!
The tide was out and so the streets were quiet!
Which is just as well because, if you haven't visited, it's a tiny CK!
But quaint... and charming!
Just as the whole town is!
I loved it; it's my kind of place!
Thanks for the trip around St Ives, lovely little spot.

Wowzer, what a glorious day for your trip to St Ives! And if you want more of this, but in fiction, then read Rosamunde Pilcher's stories, many of which feature St Ives (but by another name, which for the moment escapes me ... another senior moment!) And to find that little CK shop, my goodness, your cup runneth over ... did you buy anything, though?

ReplyDeleteoh, oh oh! We're going to St Ives this weekend - I've never been and I was already pretty excited about it, now I'm absolutely beside myself and jumping up and down with excitement looking forward to it. Sounds like you had a lovely time there, and the weather looks perfect, I hope we are half so lucky.
ReplyDeleteHi Sal
ReplyDeleteI have been stuck at home since last Monday with yet another cold/stomach virus. Your virtual trip to St Ives is a wonderful pick me up. I like the views from my house but after being stuck indoors it's getting a bit samey. Your pictures of the blue sea, beach and delightful little shops and streets were a real treat to look at!
I haven't been to St Ives for years. I long to go back to Cornwall again for a holiday, maybe this summer...
Take care
Warm wishes

ReplyDeleteBumbles tea room. I had a lovely cream tea there last summer! I tried to take a picture of the Cath Kidston shop but being during the summer it was imposible to get a shot without loads of people walking past.
