Satisfaction guaranteed! ;-)

There's something rather satisfying about having a good old fashioned baking morning, isn't there?

And when a friend of mine mentioned the words 'Rock Cakes', recently, I put these on the agenda for today's baking.

I was up with the Lark, this morning and I managed to get all of my baking done by 8.30!!

Generally, I don't like to lie in as I do love the early mornings.

Listening to Chris Evans on his Radio 2 breakfast show, I suddenly thought to myself...yes I am feeling very satisfied just lately!

Talking of Chris Evans, I did think that Terry Wogan would be a hard act to follow. However, I am pleasantly surprised and I have to say that yes, I'm enjoying the new show.

And so there's another piece of satisfaction in my life.

I'm well satisfied with the Victoria Sponge, which I also made.

And... satisfied with these scoundrels .

Yo ho ho me 'earties!

And my golliwogs turned out great, although I think they are unhappy that I did not use their favourite jam in the middle of my Victoria Sponge!!

Looks like it's time for a party!

I know that as well as feeling satisfied , I also gave some other people satisfaction ,when they received these lovely fabric pieces in my recent giveaway...and so...

I've made up two packs for my shop.

http://salssnippetsshop.blogspot.com/

I will have another giveaway soon...but it probably won't be this fabric.

Finally, I've been very satisfied just looking at these gorgeous pieces of vintage
1930s feedsack pieces in my stash...none of your repro but the real thing! (Although I do love some of the repro fabrics too)

My faves, as if you could not guess...

And now, to satisfy my hunger, I'm off to raid that plate of Rock Buns...just the one (bun ,not plate!), you understand!
Join me for a bun and cuppa and tell me.. are you easily satisfied?
If so , what's giving you ' satisfaction' today?
;-)

I am always very easily satisfied... today it is the sun streaming through my windows and the snowdrops daring to pop their little nodding heads from their little beds!... see... easily satisfied.... some many things there would be too many to mention!
I hope the rock cake tasted as good as it looked... any spares??

  5. that victoria sponge looks wonderful - definitely a prize winner. I've been craving rock cakes for days now - and am even more desperate now I've seen yours. Hoping to get some tomorrow from our local healthfood store (Joshuas near Ottery - have you been ? Delicious foodie treats there), otherwise it'll be on with the apron for a baking session on Monday, but just not going to have the time over the weekend, so will keep my fingers crossed for a good shopping trip tomorrow, or the only thing that I'll be feasting is my eyes on your blog. (Although we've currently got some carrot cake in the tin which we made earlier this week, so it's not really like I'll starve!)

  6. Satisfaction today?: Also baked: Victoria sponge and shortbread... then took shortbread and tea upstairs to watch Mr and Mrs Bluetit busy in and out investigating new Bird Box literally four feet away. It's mounted just outside the window. Heaven! :O))))

  8. Lovely looking rock cakes, Sal! And I wonder who you got the idea from, tee-hee! I've just polished off the last of the batch I made a couple of days ago, totally yummy aren't they? The best recipe is by Jane Brocket (author of The Gentle Art of Domesticity and other books.)
And the Victoria sponge looks great, too, but rock cakes are my favourite ...

  20. That's so funny I blogged today about domesticity being fab. It's lovely being in a warm steamy kitchen baking goodies and listening to the radio. It reminds me of being a little girl and helping my Mum whilst scoffing the currants and glace cherries.

  26. I'm very envious of your amazing crafting ability, but more envious of your sponge making.I tried to make on over the holidays, it was a disaster, I quickly filled it with cream and told the lads it was a strawberry shortcake, I hope they never get to taste a real shortcake.

  27. I was a bit wary of the Chris Evans thing too, but I think he's great. He certainly cheers me up on my drive to work these mornings. I don't miss Tel at all.

  30. My mum would be the first to admit her rock cakes really lived up to their name! So I've never made them in my adult life. Banana cake is the favourite in our house.
I'm very satisfied with Saturday mornings. The first of the lazy weekend, and if my homemade soup turns out OK for lunchtime, I'll be twice as satisfied.
    Love the fabrics. xx

  33. Just before Christmas I saw Golliwogs in a shop. I didn't ask what they called them, but they were traditional Golliwogs, the kind that we had as children and were on Robertson's jams! But what else can we call something that is a traditional toy? We can't be Politically Correct in retrospect, can we?

  34. What's giving me satisfaction? The smell wafting up from the kitchen - Mr P has made a Thai curry from scratch and I know that in about twenty minutes I will be noshing it. Absolute heaven!

Your bakes look delicious and I'm even more hungry now.

I loved Meopausal Musing's satisfying moment watching the bluetits - that IS hard to beat.
