Lots to celebrate!

As you might have noticed from the Google logo, it is the 250th anniversary of Kew Gardens.

Kew is a wonderful place where, when I lived in Surrey, I frequently visited... for the huge entrance fee of 1 penny!

Along with Wisley Gardens, Kew was my favourite place to wander and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

You can purchase some of these posters from :

Be warned..it is a fab shop with a grand selection!

Meanwhile in my own garden..
I love wild flowers in my garden and I have plenty of this Stitchwort:

Gorgeous colours of this Pieris:

If someone can remind me of the name of this one,I'd be grateful...

A garden full of sweet faces :

A very queer clock...
My own mini Kew

And I am really looking forward to this Lewisia blooming, judging by the buds it ought to be beautiful this year:

A lover of drier weather...aren't we all?

Mass Wisteria:

And...the best bit YELLOWSSSSSS!

LOL!

Chris Hargreaves, Torquay United captain....he even has a blog!
Well done to my footy team for digging in hard yesterday, on a pitch that was diabolical ...but hey, now we're going to Wembley..Yay!!
Must fly..need to practise singing! ;-)

  4. Last time I visited Kew was when I was about 10, forty years ago, even as a child I thought it was an amazing place. You have a very pretty garden, Pansies always make smile with their funny faces!

  5. Lovely posters and photos. The flowers of your mystery plant look vaguely like cyclamen, but the leaves don't, do they? I think you'll have to wait for someone else to remind you!

  7. England has so much wonderful history. Love it! Thanks for sharing that with us. Lovely flower photos and sorry I do not know the pretty purple flowers. They look like purple snow drops. Hope someone out there will know.

  8. "Shooting Star" came into my head, so I have googled it and it looks like it just might be... (Dodecatheon). Thank goodness, or I would have had it in my head for the rest of the day. Isn't Kew wonderful? What an amazing place. His Nibs is a great plantsman so we have been a few times. x

  10. I visited Kew in 1967 and haven't been since as we don't 'do' London. What a parochial statement! But I attepmted to record the Dan Cruickshank prog on Kew and whilst my DVD re-writable is for 120 minutes (and I'd recorded one hour-long prog so should've had an hour of disc so spare) it didn't record the whole prog, saying the disc was full after only 20 minutes or so! I wonder if anyone else has this prob with DVDs?
Have had a lovely lunch out today, sitting on the terrace at Paignton's Palace Hotel, having crab sandwiches with my pal Linda, watching the world go by on Paignton Green. What could be nicer? Aren't we lucky living in such a lovely corner of England!
Love the pansies, esp. the pale yellow one with mauve-grey edge!

  11. I was listening to the commentary on the Villa game, and when they said that Torquay had lost, but got through on aggregate to face Cambridge at Wembley, I immediately thought of you!

I have never been to Kew, but intend to put that right one day.

  19. Lovely colour in your garden Sal. I enjoy my miniature Kew too. Can you believe as an adult I haven't ever visited Kew. I vaguely remember as a child visiting and going up the pagoda, in the days when visitors were allowed to climb to the top. These posters are great, so interesting and so colourful. Thanks for sharing. x
