Hilarity!

You might be wondering what on earth I have been up to!

Well... yesterday was our Tuesday craft morning...

Near the end of the morning (after we'd finished the more serious bit, which I'll tell you about later) we were given a large Easter Egg and told (by my mum) to... ' make it an Easter bonnet and give it a face.'

Have you ever rolled around laughing so much, with tears in your eyes?

I do, frequently!

Don't you just love our efforts?LOL!

Mine was the one on the lhs as you look at the picture.

I tried to make mine 'demure and ladylike'!!

It was my sister's which had me in stitches!....
How brilliant is this...!!

Meanwhile whilst our backs were turned..

We each had an Easter gift in our place when we arrived....

And we settled down to learn the art of Kirigami

Kirigami is a variation of origami where the artist is allowed to make small cuts in the paper.

In traditional origami, papercutting is strictly prohibited.

Mum had found a set of books in David and Charles, recently.

They were graded in stages of difficulty

We rather enjoyed this !

But the real 'stars' of the day, of course were...

So, if you or your children are bored over the Easter hols...you know what you can do, don't you ?!!

Have fun!

;-)

  2. Hee hee, they are fun! Not sure the eggs would last long enough in this house but I love those :)

  3. Thanks very much for BOTH tips - the boys would have a real laugh decorating the eggs, especially with friends. But they would also be intersted in kirigami - Son 1 adores origami, and Son 2 is a dab hand with the scissors whenever we need Christmas snowflakes, so I think I'll have to find them some info about kirigami next time they're bored. I hope you continue to enjoy your Easter season!

  9. The egg with the yellow hat is tremendous - all this craft work makes me envious.
It reminded me once of a competition at a craft group for who could make the best hat out of newspaper - some of us spent about half an hour fiddling about with paper clips, scissors etc. The winner just scrunched up one sheet of newspaper and the result was fantastic. Some people just have the knack. Hope that easter bunny lounging on the plate is just resting, rather than being eaten!

  13. How did you resist the temptation to devour your egg before dressing it?
    They are wonderful Sal...
Your little Easter fun reminds me of an Easter chick card that my son made when he was at nursery school and gave to his grandma... My mother accepted the card gratefully and then couldn't help giggling... I asked what was so funny and she pointed out to me that chick's don't have four legs!! I hadn't even noticed. I still have the card and it always makes me smile..
