The daily walk throws up many delights..
So many things to see.
Sounds, smells and beautiful sights
And all of this for free!
There are hips that shine
Like bright, red jewels,
There are haws among the hedges..
The Holly berries are quite a sight,
So pleasant to the eye.
These are in abundance,
Against the bright, blue sky.
Now, back in early springtime,
We spotted this, above
But don’t be fooled, those hearts deceive!
Don’t even think of love!
Beware! As this is deadly.
Black Bryony is its name.
The berries must not be eaten!
Now isn’t that a shame?
Now here we have the Spindle
( Or Euonymus europaea)
A lovely sight in autumn;
Always one to cheer!
(BTW Spindle is hermaphrodite, meaning that
the flowers contain both male and female reproductive parts.)
It’s Fascinating fungi
To finish off the walk.
No pollen, no fruit, no seeds...but spores..
If only they could talk!
Yes! The daily walk throws up many delights..
So many things to see.
Sounds, smells and beautiful sights
And all of this for free!
