Thrilling theatre!!

Just before Christmas, my mum and I were chatting about the

 theatre trips that we'd had over the years.

She's had so many more than I have!

And she remembers them, vividly!

And so... out came her collection of theatre programmes!!

My mum and dad were great theatre goers when we lived in Surrey.

They'd hop on a train (now, where have I heard that before?1)

 at Woking and off they would go for the day, to London.

(I know that Fortnums, for tea, was also a frequent visit!!)

Anyway, back to these programmes.

I borrowed some (but not all, as there were far too many to carry!)

 However, with Christmas getting in the way, they have stayed put in my craft

room, waiting to be 'blogged about' before I return them to my mum!!

Most of these programmes come from the 70s and '80s.

Delving into these, I found that she saw actors such as David Essex,

Jeremy Irons and Marti Webb, in 'Godspell';

Jess Conrad in 'Joseph'; Tony Britton and Anna Neagle in 'My Fair Lady'.

Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman in 'Phantom';

Michael Ball and Caroline Quentin in 'Les Mis';

Wayne Sleep and Marti Webb in 'Song and Dance';

Elaine Paige, Paul Nicholas, Brian Blessed, Bonnie Langford,Sarah Brightman in 'Cats'.

Lea Salonga in 'Miss Saigon'; Sheila Hancock in 'Sweeney Todd.'

(Interesting that her late husband was in a TV series of a similar name!)

Tom Conti in, 'They're Playing our Song.'

And I noticed, in various casts, a host of other 'up and coming' performers!

I also observed that some of the adverts inside the programmes are so 'yesterday'!! ;-)

I must photograph some before I give these back to my mum.

I have to say that after we'd discussed theatre trips,

a few days later she got out something totally different...

 her collection of sugar wrappers!!

A future blog post, I'm sure!!

What better way than to spend ten minutes, with ones feet up and a cuppa,

finding out about sugar wrappers.

One lump or two?!;-)

Finally, I also found this in her collection...

which is rather apt... as next week

we are off to see 'Starlight Express' at the Princess Theatre,Torquay.

You know what?

I'd better get my skates on! LOL!
