I do love vintage Christmas 'finds' from Scandinavia!
They are rather charming , I think.
I found two of these 1950s Swedish mats when I was browsing ebay, recently.
When the package arrived , there was a note telling me that she, the seller, had found two more and so she was enclosing them as extra for me!
How kind!

Those are great, Sal. The French are very into the 'Scandinavian Christmas' style at the moment - it's very jolly but not OTT.
ReplyDeleteHello Sal !
ReplyDeleteAll that is nice !
Floss is right : a lot of Scandinavian style in all the decoration here ... Too much for me ... I prefer traditional Xmas colours, like I see in your blog and others British blogs.
J'aime beaucoup ce que tu fabriques !
Have a nice Sunday!
What a generous gesture to enclose two extras. Have fun with them. xx
ReplyDeleteThey are very pretty.

I love those Scandinavian mats and what a kind person to enclose two extra ones too.
ReplyDeleteThose round mats in the bottom right of the last picture I have twleve of those and I remember exactly where I bought them originally, they weren't very exspensive at the time because I bought six for me and six for mum. I don't know if you remember a shop called Craftsmith, when WHSmiths ventured into crafts in the mid-seventies to early eighties, and I bought them about Christmas 1983.
Ah ..so that's where they came from originally!
ReplyDeleteI bought mine last week off Lizzie (The Washerwoman) at the V&H Fair! ;-)
I love the simplicity of scandinavian designs - even in the 70s, when let's face it, things weren't always stylish, the patterns from that part of the world were gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAdd all these christmassy bits to my puddings being made today sal and we are more than half way to getting into the Christmas mood.
ReplyDeleteOh these are lovely - great find. They look like what I'd describe as "proper Christmas"!

Lovely mats...what are you going to do with them? Cut them up? How kind of her to add the others.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for my goodies.... Nanny loved the ribbon holder & when I was looking had helped himself to a nice red one!!! :) x
I like Scandinavian style as well, in Bakewell there is a shop called Chalet which is full of gorgeous things from that area. I also enjoy old and handmade stuff and thought that your V & H Fair sounded just my kind of thing, the Christmas cottage too. Must see whether we have anything like that up in the north.
ReplyDeletei love christmas, and Scandinavian style always feels more christmassy! fliss xx
