The dresser!

Along with my greenhouse, the dresser, in our hallway, is an important part

of my life! I mean, I must walk by it a thousand times a day!

At Christmas, it is one of two things that I love to dress...

the other being the Christmas tree. And when the Christmas season is over

I set to and make the dresser as lovely as I can.

I wouldn’t say that I’m a hoarder but there are certain things that I just love!

I started to buy Emma Bridgewater pottery years ago...I particularly love

her ‘Sweet Pea’ design. But that’s not all!

I cannot resist a nice greetings card! I’m a massive admirer of

Emily Sutton, Mark Hearld, Angel Harding and so many more...

thus I spend a lot of time perusing sites such as

‘The Blank Card Company’ and ‘Green Pebble’

       And I don’t always wait to be given a card...oh no! 😁

My mum always loved to have a really nice card on her birthday or on

Mothering Sunday and I’m exactly the same. And, usually, cards remain

on my dresser or in my craft room..to admire and inspire.

So that’s my dresser...a lovely piece of furniture that I have cherished

since the day we bought it about 25 years ago. I think I’ve done it proud

       over the years.

And now...I think it’s time to buy another greetings card...let’s see..ah I know!

This one seems apt...it’s...  ‘September Dresser’ by Emily Sutton....

a bit more crowded than my dresser, don’t you think?

( Maybe, I can make room for a little more, after all! 🀣😱)

Magazine Pond.

On a beautiful, cold, sunny morning, we took a walk...

A strange name for a pond, you might think?

Here’s the answer...

The scene was like something out of my

‘What to look for in Winter’ Ladybird book.

In contrast, this was taken in the same place
a few summers ago...

Returning to winter...

Peace reigned as we delighted in the beauty.

We continued our walk...and noticed that someone had put

out bird food in various places. I’m guessing a warden,

as this is a country park.

A patch of gorse shone through, rivalling the sun’s rays....

Lichen and ice made a pretty combination on a number of branches...

....as well as moss....my favourite plant right now!

The sight of the Hazel catkins... yet another reminder of what is just

            ‘around the corner’.

As we sat down for a few moments, a pair of Mallard ducks

flew by, swiftly, as did a cormorant. On the water, a Moorhen, a Dabchick

and a Coot got on with their day. As did we!

           A very pleasant morning...and one to lift one’s spirits, that’s for sure.😁
